I watched this years ago.Its about Richard Louis "Dick" Proenneke who built a cabin at Twin Lakes and lived most of the next 30+ years there.

I bought that on disc last year (after only hearing about it), and have watched it several times. Absolutely enthralling to me and Mrs. Arquebus both, it's one of my favorites. Dick was an amazing man, I love watching his hands as he works.

Thanks for putting that up.

    WOW!

Never seen that before. I would love to do that for a couple months, but years? No way.

If I was a single man I'd be out where nobody could find me.It would be a refreshing change from the daily grind.

BTW that link has two more films about Mr. Proenneke...

You're quite welcome.Mr.Proenneke does indeed have some God given skills and I believe God watched over him all those years out there.

The third film on that page is him in his mid-70's,some amazing footage. He has the birds eating right out of his hand.

I guess if I ever find myself single I'd love to give it a shot.

The Frozen North with Richard Proenneke...

Watched the videos, have the book someplace.

    I highly recommend the videos.
I suggest spending a week in the wilderness before you decide to chuck it all and head to the woods. 10 days was good, just me and the woods. I am not sure I would want to try several months.

Whew...I thought that was the Louisiana Twin Lakes at first. He would have died from heat stroke, alligator, snake bite, or black bear within 1 month.

Anybody can feed a Camp Robber/Canadian Jay/Gray Jay like that. They are very trusting if you stay still. I did it last week at my cabin.
I've watched that series on him several times. Many guys have done that up here over the years. Just never filmed themselves. This state is full of Pioneers, young and old.
