Last night after work I was hungry as hell (didn't get to eat during my shift) so I decided to hit Taco John's on the way home. I pulled in to an ATM and took out $20. When I pulled back onto the street some jerk came flying up the road like the devil was chasing him and almost t-boned me.
I jumped on the gas and got ahead of him.
A skunk ran out of nowhere right in front of my car. I braked hard, then after it wouldn't move, pulled into a parking lot to the right.
I waited a few minutes, then resumed my trip.
As fate would have it, I later found myself behind the cat who almost t-boned me. He caught my attention by tossing a Taco Bell bag out the window, almost causing a multiple car wreck.

They did it on purpose, no way they didn't see me.

You should have used the left turn lane to go around the skunk!

First glad nobody got hurt and no damage.

I have to say I get folks telling me about close calls often. I ask few questions and step by step they often realize while the other driver may have been going fast its still their/your fault accident almost happened. Of course its not possible to go step by step here/have you draw intersection/we all know it.... But in attempt. :)

Maybe I am "seeing" this wrong? You are comming from ATM? At a bank/store parking lot? (anyway you are not on street???) My understanding is traffic on street has Right of way over folks from side streets/parking lots/driveways/etc. Correct (except if LEO is directing traffic) ;0
So you entered street without seeing traffic on street? (or correctly judging speed of traffic?) Thats on you.

I guess it is better to be almost t-boned than rear ended or just boned?

I have been in three traffic accidents. None of them were my fault.

1). My first accident, a guy ran a red light while another guy on the cross traffic plowed into him. The guy that ran the light, bounced off of him and hit me. He hit my driver’s door and damaged everything to the rear bumper. He even broke the left rear leaf spring. My new ruck only had 4,000 miles on it. It was never the same.

2). My second accident, I was stopped behind a School Bus with its flashers going. A young woman hit me from behind. She said she accidently hit the gas instead of the brake. It felt like it too.

3). My last accident, I was stopped at a traffic light just where the 2 lanes funnel into one lane. I just happen to look into my rear view mirror when I saw two cars playing “The Fast & The Furious”. The kid in my lane slammed right into me.

My Dad taught me never to endanger my life or the life of anyone else in the attempt to miss hitting an animal. I think I would have gone ahead and hit the skunk. This of course, is just me playing armchair quarterback, so YMMV.

+1 Depending on the situation I might brake or swerve to avoid something big like a dog or a deer, other wise the most I'm doing is slowing down slightly, unless I have plenty of room to react.

Wait, are you trying to imply that speeding tickets aren't just for tax revenue? GNG is gonna get you...
