This here sweet 10mm. It was a retirement present from my guys. One of my favorite Glocks and much lighter than my 6 1/2" S&W model 29.

Thanks. It was either these two or my twin S&W 629-2Es snubbies, MagNaPorted. I used to carry them into questionable areas. Galco shoulder holster, one under each arm. Never felt undergunned then, either.

This handy little fella has been accompanying me in the woods as of late. More than enough bite for the local black bears and hogs:

The top one is S&W 640 .357 mag for bear, bottom one is S&W 642 .38spl for deep concealment.

The 640 fits in a jacket outer pocket nicely. I've come to the conclusion that a gun should be readily available in outer wear.

Being in the Northeast, I think a snubby .357 mag revolver with 158 gr semi-jacketed bullets could be a handy tool kept in an outer pocket. Better than digging under cold weather clothes for whatever I'm carrying IWB.

    Ruger Alaskan 454 Casull

I prefer my Ruger Alaskan 454 Casull. I only shoot in double action. They’re loaded with Buffalo Bore 360gr 454.

I am behind the curve on holsters for the model 57 and Redhawk. Am good to go GP-100's in 357 or 44 Special, with a Skeeter load. I like the OP's El Paso holster.

I can’t say I have a designated “Woods gun,” but if I were to encounter larger bears I would grab something with Weatherby Magnum at the end of it.

I could cheat and say this 6" .357 mag is my bear gun.

Or this 8" .44 mag, or the same gun with the 4" barrel I sometimes put on it:

But I'm more likely to either be carrying this S&W 686 2.5" .357 mag in an IWB
    [IMG]

Or this S&W 640 2.1" .357 mag in my coat pocket.

Or maybe just this Glock 43x with Gold Dots 124 grain +P in an IWB
    [IMG]

There's a lot of days I'm outside in fields and woods, and there's not many of them that I actually have my .44 mag on :)

There was a time when it would have been a 357mag but for the last year or so it has been this guy. I just keep it loaded with some 124 gr FMJ NATO spec ammo. [IMG]

This awesome marvel of modern horsepower is all I need to handle any of these hyper-aggresive Kansas bruins!

When I’m really serious about bear, buffalo or dinosaur protection, this is what I break out.
