Beer commercials often are funny. Nearly all of them try to be. Liquor commercials try to be thoughtful or informative.

    Why?

Obviously, they are trying to reach two different audiences. Most people that I know who drink beer as a matter of course (more than 3 days a week) wouldn't know the difference between a 10 dollar and a 100 dollar bottle of hooch.

Most of the people I know who drink liquor as a matter of course are more discerning, in general. They are more likely to "get" esoteric or lofty ideas and be compelled by them where "potty humor" (most beer commercials) might seem a bit sophmorish to them.

And the two good friends I have that blow that stereotype out of the water are both functional alcoholics who would drink sterno if they had to but, who both appreciate potty humor, thoughtful commercials and the ability to be discerning about their liquor ... though they seldom discern.

Liquer generally costs more so they try to make it a status/class thing so you see it as the best.

Beer is generally cheaper and it's marketed to college age people who will be more apt to respond to humor.

For many social reasons, liquor is a drink of the pretentious. So they market to that demographic.

I didn't say it wasn't a drink of anyone else.

Stinking history majors don't need logic classes, I see. :tongueout:
