Super Redhawk Alaskan .45 Colt/.454 Casull.

Saw the Alaskan a while back and couldn't get it out of my mind... Now I've got a heavy hitter in the arsenal. Lots of fun with the tame cowboy .45 Colts, but simply amazing with .454! My Simply Rugged Sourdough should be here any day. Great gun.

From now on, no more than one cylinder of Casulls per shoot. My thumb ligaments were sore for a couple of days after 12 rounds. Short barrel makes for a rotating snap backward which eventually tries to rip your hand in half. BUT, the first few shots are the coolest thing ever! In a practical situation, I can't imagine a need to shoot more than 6 rounds. The .45 Colts feel like a pellet gun after that. Firing this gun changes your world...and your definition of recoil.

Hey, here's something else interesting...Raging Judge Magnum!

How is the grip compared to axis of the barrel? I think the smith hugs it a little better letting you get a better grip. I would like to try one of those someday though

You may want to try out some of the 45 Colt +P loads on the market. One that I like is the Double Tap 255 grain Keith hardcast. Should get the recoil down but still make a good field load.

Thanks...I've been wondering about those .45 Colt +P rounds. I'll have to check it out. Damn hard to find anything .45LC right now.

I don't have much to compare the Ruger to...I've got a number of autos, but revolvers are new to me. Diggin' it though...I saw a cool 8 shot .357 the other day! Really like this Ruger.

Buffalo Bore has some that boast awfully impressive numbers, too.

They produce some really hot 45 Colt loads that would be a great option for the snub 454. Both the 300 grain loaded with the Speer Plated bullet and the 325 grain hardcast are designed for big game up to 1,000 lbs.
