I was told that my Draco is shipping out Monday. I plan to carry it in my GHB/EDC bag. All vehicles will have a pouch with 4 30rd mags in it. However in the gun itself I'm trying to decide between a 10, 20, or 30 round mag loaded into the gun?

Each is a trade off of sorts...bigger, smaller, heavier, and lighter along with the round count.

Any of you pack this as a vehicle gun? What mag do you use?

    Thanks!

Well... the ones used as and commonly called "tanker mags" were often 20 round mags. So I guess if your talking a "truck gun" then I might opt for something along that lines.

id go with a 20 round mag. maybe even a 10 round mag depending on the carry method but with you 4 30 rounders on tap for backup, you should be fine with anything. i never felt undergunned with my rifle sporting 20 rounders. but then again it shot .308 :)

I think I'm actually going to go with the 20rd. mag it's coming with.

I figure that, other than bringing it into the house for the night, the gun won't be far away from the mag pouch. So most likely the 20rd. mag would just let me take care of things until I can get to the pouch. If on a trail or somewhere else where I won't be able to reach the pouch, I'll either load a 30rd mag or just put the pouch in my bag. It would suck to lug all the extra weight around constantly, but once in a while or when the SHTF, I'd much rather have it and not need it than the other way around ya know?

    Thanks!

Yeah I saw that. It does make sense for close quarters situations.

    Thanks!

It's a bit inappropriate to accuse other members of illegal activities, isn't it?

While I agree that such an accusation would be inappropriate...in this state...I could really do it and it wouldn't be breaking the law. Go figure!! :dunno:

As to your question Harley...I don't plan on it. ;)

it isnt necesarily illegal depending on where he lives ..

many campuses outright allow rifles to be on campus, and many allow conceal carry of handguns

A few years ago I had a JUDGE break it down for me...CARRYING a gun on a college/university campus is NOT illegal here. However, although I've heard open carry is legal in PA, I'm not going to say it's legal (or a good idea) to openly show that one has a gun. 99.9999% of educators/students on such campuses here would freak out, crap their pants, and cry for Obama to save them...

Let's get back to talking about AK mags ok folks. ;)

if it comes with a 20 rounder, that would make the decision easy for me. if you need more than 20 rounds you are in a world of hurt already, however i would always carry a reload.

this is an interesting thread as ive been debating doing the same with a KT PLR and a 20 round mag. this would be legal with my HCP :) where carrying a loaded rifle is still illegal in my state.

I bought one of those Hungarian Tanker Mags from Cheaper Than Dirt, and it does improve handling in a vehicle. I usually keep the rifle in the backseat of the truck on the farm, and grab it when I get out. It does help. A 10 rounder would obviously give you the best handling, but you're also sacrificing capacity. A 30 rounder would give you the most capacity, with the least handling. Go with the 20 rounder. You get the beeeeeeeeeeest of both worldsss. /Hannah Montana

doesn't necessarily need to be a tanker mag specifically,

    just throw a 10 or normal 20 round magazine in there, i don't think there's a difference

just whatever you do make sure they are reliable in your gun,

one or two people i have known have had issues with the short ak builds ..
