Where can I find the age limit to shoot competition? I want to start shooting with my son just wondering what the age limits are. Thanks

    Welcome to GlockTalk!

Not to worry....there is a Super Senior catagory....it doesn't matter how old you are!

A quick look through the rules by myself failed to reveal a minimum age limit.....which means almost NOTHING! It may a case of being up to the parent to be responsible enough to decide when their child can safely shoot the match too. Keep in mind that you would certainly have to stay with the shooter and BE responsible for him/her.

Best to call GSSF and inquire I suppose. Maybe someone else (like DannyR) will chime in here with a factual answer for ya too.

I would also check with your state to see what the laws are

Ok thanks everyone, I've been stalking the forum for awhile and just found out my local gun club here in SC holds Glock shoots so I thought this would something fun to do with my oldest.

Indoor or outdoor match? How old is your son?

There are 2 outdoor Glock matches in SC (actually 3 counting the Ladies-Only Match), 1 in NC, and several in GA. There are separate, additional prizes for Juniors (<18), and Juniors can have their own team.

I asked about the subject today and, there is no age limit....GSSF staff running the match will basically decide based on a 'case by case' basis if the would be shooter appears to be ready to compete or not. One as young as 8 was allowed, and another 12 year old was not based on demonstrated ability level.

I would expect that at an indoor event it would be up to the match director and/or range rules.

Awesome thanks, my son is 13 right now and is really interested and I feel very responsible when it comes to safe weapon handling. Thanks again everyone.

Should have said that upfront. We have many younger than that routinely shoot GSSF.
