Hey every one thought I share a glock story. This happened to me yesterday at the range. I own a glock 23 with some aftermarket parts. I see a lot of people post questions about aftermarket parts and people all ways say if you don’t have the OEM parts it will not have the same glock reliability, I always brushed that off thinking I have them and my glock works great. Well I had a aftermarket malfunction. The photo below is a lonewoulf distributors Extended Slide Lock with the chrome chipped off. What happened after 50rd or so and I dry fired it and the slide slid off. I picked it up racked it and dry fired it again and the same thing the slide slid off. I noticed the slide lock was pushed down a bit and when I pulled the trigger it would drop all the way and the slid would release. Soon as I looked at the slide lock you can tell it was the problem, it was a good thing I knew a lot of the people at the rang one of them being a glock armorer and having a spare OEM slide lock. I put it in and it worked 100%. now im rethinking the trigger kit and titanium safety plunger I have installed. Wood Finger Hardwood Wood stain Hand

Did you install it correctly? The side with the groove in it faces rearward:

The only way it wouldn't keep the slide on the frame is if it was installed the wrong direction or the groove is undersized, which I've never heard of with any aftermarket slide lock.

Edit: Thanks for posting the picture bentbiker, for some reason whenever I try to post a picture from that hosting service it won't show up.

Peeling of the chrome should not cause the slide to release. Can't tell from the picture . . . does the top edge of the pictured side have a lip (raised edge) on it? How about the other side? The side with the raised edge should face the rear.

Edit: V types faster . . . his pic . . .

I don't like aftermarket anything in my Glocks, however it appears you actually installed this slide lock backwards.

One of the first things I do to all of my Glocks is install a Glockmeister extended slide lock...it's so much easier for me to field strip the pistols with my short/stubby fingers.

Absolutely +1 ! I have one from Lenny's store and it is machined I believe, it fits and works way better than the stock-one and I fully support the above statements.
Just for the heck of it, I try to stay away from any nickel plated parts, especially if there are points of impact or rubbing but with all due respect to the OP, I don't think chipped piece of nickel is the problem here...
If the OP still have the part in question - install it correctly and test the gun again (no firing!) if it does it again, please take some close-up pictures if it's possible, both sides, it will be interesting to see the little sucker ...

Sorry for the off topic: when you go to the actual address, like the one above, and when you see the picture you want to post, right click on it, go to “Properties” and copy the picture address from the gray field, then place it in the forum interface…:wavey:

When you go to copy the link at TinyPic or Photobucket, they offer a "Direct Link" option under their links; click on that to save to your clipboard. Then use the yellow "Insert Image" button at the top of the reply window to insert it. If you try to use the link TinyPic suggests for forums, it won't work.

From looking at your picture, the side that is facing you should be facing towards the muzzle end of the gun...is that how you had it installed?

Edit:sorry, just read everyone else's posts and realized they had already covered this...

Nothing wrong with it, you installed it backwards! That's why you had a problem.

seems like an incorrect installation to me.............i have extended on all my glocks. i even have the MGSL which is awesome. Based on what you said, it seems like: 1) you installed it backwards or 2) your spring is broken (highly unlikely, but possible)
