Advertising Glocks in WA state

I'm vacationing in Washington state and had always heard how people here are anti-handgun liberals. So yesterday I wore my black high profile Glock cap around Spokane, just to see what reaction I'd get. No less than four people commented on it. One waitress practically sat down with me and related how she and her husband go out shooting regularly. I realize I can't draw any conclusions from this little experiment, but I was pleased to find Spokane has its share of gun lovers too.

For one thing you were in the more conservative end of the state.

If you were west of the Cascades I doubt most folks know what a Glock is.

I used to wear my treasured GSSF hat all the time. The comments usually had to do with what Golf course I was associated with.

Enjoy your stay. It's a big state with several different personalities.
I was going to say the same thing. Been to Seattle once and Spokane once and the differences were obvious to me.
You're in Eastern Washington, which is generally more conservative. If you want to go to Western Washington, you'll find more of the stereotypical, gun-hating public; particularly in King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties. Even then it's not as bad as people make it out to be. I lived in Seattle for eight years and never had anyone give me grief for my enjoyment of firearms. I did get grief for hunting, however.

EDIT: I should have read the above posts. What 9jeeps said.
NE WA is great. Driving on the highway south of Port Angeles I can hear gun shots...just guys shooting out their back yard.

It's a very "Green" state, where everyone's concerned about the environment. I carried concealed in WA, good times.
Maybe my next Glock should be OD green and then I would be doing my part to be green too. Hmmmm.

Spokane is not a bad place, several times I have walked down the hallway with both an AR and a shotgun for classes I was taking up there and never had any issues.

I wear my Team Glock and LWD hat all over Spokane, most people don't even seem to notice or I'll get a "right on!"
I grew up around Spokane, and I grew up around guns/ "outdoor activities". I can concur with what was said about this side of the state, we are very outdoor minded. Once you get outside the big cities you find just some "good ol' folks" who keep and bear arms and just plain ol' enjoy the land.
I do feel like a dork when I come back to town after hunting in my camo, but all I ever get is "so, howd you do?" or "what are ya hunting?" I rarely get any strange looks, but sometimes from the yuppies or yogurts I will. Who cares about yuppies and yogurts though? :)

i dont agree, i see nra stickers on the back of cars atleast 3 times a day, from kent to north seattle.

and glock is the most heard of gun in the world.

i once had a guy come in the range who thought that all semi-auto's were considered glocks lol

maybe be the most known brand of firearm in america for those who dont know much about guns in the first place
State seems pretty open to guns. I live in Seattle and have seen NRA stickers not to mention how easy it is to get a concealed carry permit.
I kinda figure NE WA might be the conservative side of the state. I drove through one little town (300 people) on July 4 and every mailbox had a US flag flying from it. The town had one little cafe and I had to stop and spend a few bucks, just to tell 'em I appreciated their patriotism.

Yet, I can tell I'm in a "green" state by the laws and rules. Each restaurant menu contains a warning that eggs, meat, etc., if not cooked enough can make you sick, kill you, etc. Ah, well... if that makes people feel better, so be it. I'm 73 years old and my mother told me that without government help.

I also see all the ADA compliances. Haven't seen any handicapped people yet, but I'm sure they're out there and hopefully being accommodated. Hope they're shooters too, and conservative.

And yes, I'm enjoying Washington state, and as long as the libs leave me alone I'll leave them alone. Thanks for the responses.

Hmmm.. you must be more handsome than me or look richer .. I live in Spokane Valley and I've worn my OD Gunny Team Glock hat since they came out. Only one person has ever said anything to me at all. I must admit though, it does tend to designate you as a pro gun and state that you may have one on you. I like the hat though, but I sometimes think it's not the wisest choice in the world to advertise like that.

I've never noticed a raw egg or meat warning on a menu here. I'll have to pay better attention.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your trip.

Oh, they're there....! I can't think of any at the moment, but I know I've seen em'! Just for the runny egg and mooing steak crowd :eat:
Enjoy your stay JJ.
I've lived in WA most of my life and even the west is pretty pro-gun.....your experience is particularly unsurprising on the east side.
Well, I'm feeling better about things. I saw a "GUNS - Silencers" sign on a Division Street street store so I stopped and went inside. The guy had just opened this store but said he'd been in business in Spokane otherwise for 14 years. His walls had lots of so-called black guns, and several handguns with suppressors already installed were in evidence. He said WA has a 5-day wait for people w/o CCW permits, no wait for long guns and just a short wait -- hour or so -- if you have a permit. He also said lots of WA citizens carry and the pro-gun lobby in the state is strong. That said, he knows about the Dem-sponsored anti-gun legislation making its way through Congress. He agreed the Obama administration and Democratic Congressional leaders want to take all guns away and felt that at least some restrictions are on the way.

The guy's Glock prices are on a par with everything else I read -- $525 for a G19, etc., Sigs up around $750 or so.
i,m hr n a half from Spokane for the most part the people seem fairly friendly.
I also visited GW-LE, Inc., the Glock distributor for the western United States. Great bunch of guys there and a well-stocked facility. As far as I know, they only sell to LEOs, retired LEOs, military, security people, etc.

.
Thats Axel, good guy.
Got my AR-30 .338 Lapua from him a couple yrs back. He'll get you whatever you want quicker than any other place Ive been to. Said that in the state you can own a suppressor, but not use it. I dont know what kinda logic went into that bill, but at least you cant still get them if you want, well after a $200 fed stamp per.
BTW, defined in the law, an officer has to be standing no more than 15 feet away at the time of firing, to prove in court that you used your restricted "hearing protection".
Washington is really three different states.
the east side. Rep
the west side Rep
