Had some nasty BHO's that just wouldn't go away...
Ran Ad-Aware 3 times in a row, always came up clean...
Then I actually read the pop-up window that said "Update Available- Download Now"...

Downloaded it, ran ad-aware again and immediatley came up with 101 Objects :(

I recently had to replace my hard drive.

The Comp-USA service guy reloaded windows from the OEM CD's.

I brought it home, plugged it in, and 3 days later I repurchased Pest Patrol with the future re-download option, scanned the computer, and it found nearly 1000 adware and spyware programs that had gotten in in the few days between turning on the lights and locking the door.

Anyway, after that I updated windows with Service Pack 2.0, updated Norton Anti-Virus, and am now undisturbed by spyware and adware.

For a while there I felt like Dilbert the time that he blasted his computer with a shotgun.

purge ie - they have a trial version that is free. I had a few sites that would never leave my history, I even used TweakUI and it didn't remove them. Purge IE completely removed everything.
