Alright, I have an AR with optics, I was thinking about getting a scope for it so I could shoot at longer ranges and be more accurate. I decided to fix this issue by just getting a .22 rifle instead of a scope for my AR and switching back and forth between my red dot and magnifier to the scope. What I am looking for is an accurate .22 rifle with pic rail to mount a scope. I have a mkiii and really like that it's inexpensive to shoot as well as accurate. So, what does everyone have to suggest? Thanks in advance for the input!

If I was looking for a .22 target rifle, I'd start here. The stock is great, already set up for a scope, and a bull barrel with a bipod. All ready to rock.

What action are you looking for?

I have had 2-3 10-22's and they are real good outta the box and scary accurate with some better parts.

But hands down my most accurate 22RF is a CZ 452 Limited BOLT gun....
BUT, of all my RF rifles BAR NONE the top accuracy award goes to my H&R single shot in 17M2. It shoots 1/4" groups at 50 yards, off a bench, under or easilly ALL shots on a dime at 100. BUT being a S.S. its a "tad" slower then a 10-22, that will shoot about a nickel at the same distance.

Definitely Cz rifles are the route to go for out of the box accuracy. I just shot a group earlier today at 75yds that you could cover with a quarter.

The CZ bolts are nice but I have a Savage Mark II that will shoot with or outshoot a buddie's CZ anyday. Heavy fluted barrel.

It could be the man behind the rifle.Savage's are great and I love my .308 tactical but cZ pretty well holds the crown for accuracy in rimfires under a $1,000. I am sure there are special cases but on average it is cZ.

Guys pretty much have it covered with Savage and CZ.

Marlin 925's also have a good reputation for accuracy as well

If you really want to play with the big boys, get an Anschutz 54 action.

Even a 64 action will out shoot anything below a custom, 54, 40X, Suhl, Cooper, Kimber 82.

Fifteen years or so ago, I shot two Anshutz, a Cooper, Browning T bolt and later a Kimber 22 RF and compared to Marlin Squirrel.... NONE COULD BEST IT for accuracy...
My CZ 452 shoots better than that Marlin.

Having a Anshutz does NOT gaurenty a accurate firearm... Quality workmanship sure accuracy... Sometimes. Old Remmy, Mossbergs and Winnys are also exceptional shooters too!

Agreed! But my Anschutz 54 Supermatch has pretty good odds of being accurate. Yet I would sell IT before I would sell my Volquartsen Superlite. I've been an avid rimfire shooter for over 40 years & have never enjoyed any rifle as much.

A semi-auto 22 rifle is a lot more fun than a bolt action. Just about any 10/22 with a target barrel and decent scope will be tack drivers.

Anschütz rifles based on the 54 action have won more international matches than all other rifles combined.

I have a Savage BTVLSS with a Mueller 4.5-14 X 40 APV scope, it's a tack driver. This rifle was purchased as a trainer for my FVSS 22-250, plinking and shooting tree rats. I'm into it for $590 with the scope and rings. So far I've only tried yellow box Eley, which it does not like, CCI mini mag Varmint that shot 5 @ .408 o/s at 50 yards and cheap ($12 for 400) Federal American Eagle 38 grain hollow points. Sighted at 30 yards the Federals shot 10 @ .480. I expect when I find a good target amm it likes the groups will shrink if I can do my part.

This could well be true, I do not know. What I do know is buying ANY thing on name alone is a expertise in futility. My statement still stands.
The ones I have shot shot very well, just not as well as my Marlin Squirrel, my CZ 452 and nothing I have ever seen equips my 129$ H&R "Sportster" 17 M2!!
