A man in Boulder called 911 and said he had just shot an intruder. He said that he had shouted that he has a gun and to leave. Turns out it was a young drunk (more than twice the legal limit) woman who came into the wrong house. She took one round to the head and police say she will be charged with felony trespassing when she is released from the hospital. Homeowner will not be charged based on Colorado's so-called Make My Day law. Perhaps somebody needs to rethink her drinking habits and homeowner should start locking his door.

Calling it a "Make My Day" law is kind of ignorant. Makes it seem like gun owners just cant wait to shoot an intruder. Like all we do is daydream about how they would shoot someone and when it finally happens it's just great. It makes it seem like the shooter was some Clint Eastwood wanna-be who couldn't wait and basically wanted the intruder to force them kill someone.

It is something the antis came up with to make people defending themselves look crazier then they are.

The correct term is "castle doctrine" .

Maybe the "Make My Day" moniker was invented by the press? :dunno:

    Questions:

    1. Was she hot?

    2. Did she have good teeth?

    3. Do you think she was after his Bravia?

I'm sure that was the intention of the liberal media when they coined the phrase.

Actually, yes. They showed her picture. However I suspect it was a BEFORE picture.

The shooter is my wife's ex-shrink.

Very odd, since he didn't appear to be the gun owning type.

Evidently the stalking incident mentioned in the article was fairly serious.
I think they are both retired now...

I guess I'll be "that guy" on this one. The homeowner isn't going to get any pats on the back from me. Sure, shooting the dopey broad was legal, but how about locking the front door of your million dollar home, doofus? This isn't 1940 anymore.

I had a strange woman walk into my home one day who insisted that I was in her house. She didn't represent any kind of physical threat, so I shooed her outside and called the police. After a little checking, it turned out that she was my next door neighbor's sister who was staying with him while recuperating from brain surgery. She had walked outside, become disoriented and walked into my house by mistake. I'm glad I didn't just shoot first and ask questions later.

    Try this one:

I saved a bunch on my homeowner's policy by switching to Castle Doctrine.

Kind of ironic that the girl's last name is Ripple. :whistling:

Dude should have locked his doors and put on his alarm. She should not get so wasted and go walking around at 3:30 AM. Common sense fail for both parties.

The article posted further down in the thread said she was shot in the hip.

Tooth to gum ratio is a little upsetting but I'd hit it.

Make my day laws can only lead to Do you feel lucky laws, with possible I gatz to know exceptions.

Something really similar happened in Fort Worth late last year, except it was a female shooter and a male that got shot. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

As a dentist, I believe the correct diagnosis would be "vertical maxillary excess" and can be corrected with surgery.
