After all that talk about not bowing to terrorism,
and not paying the ransom, ABS-CBN proves it's all full of dog poo.

If I was a conspiracy enthusiast...

I'd say the whole thing was prearranged.
    "Rebel" interview fee = 2M.
Bogus abduction thrown in to boost ratings.

YEAH RIGHT!! just like pre release of local movies. They would start some intrigue so that people would want to watch it even more.

The bad thing about it is, the ASG gets millions of pesos in funds to buy more arms and equipment for their nefarious activities.

    It's an OLD idea, actually

Not saying it's the case here and right now, but it HAS been done here
before. Remember the Euro tourists kidnapped from Sipadan, years ago?
    Libya paid the ransom, right?

It was all a ploy for the ASG to get funding from one of its patrons,
who in turn got all sorts of kudos from the French for their help.
Man, Khadafy must have been laughing for a year over that.

"Remember the Euro tourists kidnapped from Sipadan..."

I knew a French diplomat involved in that incident.

Two european men in that incident were gay, but this information was suppressed for fear the Muslims would kill them for being gay. And of course there was abuse of the women.

ABS-CBN will come out with a big TV palabas no matter what happens to Ces Drilon. She lives? There will be a big TV special. She is killed? There will be a big TV special. She joins the Abu Sayyaf? There will be a.....

    From a PDI report
    http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breaki...8-143262/UPDATE-4-Ces-Drilon-companions-freed

    -=-=-=-
"Ces, Jimmy, and Angelo are finally all free," ABS-CBN said in a statement.
"We are thankful our prayers have been answered and our efforts rewarded."

"Above all, the release of Ces, Jimmy, and Angelo could not have been possible
without the cooperation of the people of Sulu and their local government.
We thank them and share their hope for enduring peace in Mindanao," the statement added.

Razon meanwhile said he had no idea Senator Loren Legarda was part of the negotiations.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer also learned that Legarda had been involved in the negotiations
for the last five days at the request of Drilon’s family and ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp.,
where Legarda was a broadcaster for many years before running for the Senate.

The Inquirer learned that Legarda secured the captives’ release without conditions or
payment of ransom but on “purely humanitarian grounds.”

No military or police elements were present in the release operations.
Legarda said the refusal of the victims' families to pay ransom, and an imminent military
operation, were the breakthrough that led to the release.

"Nung malaman nilang wala silang makukuha [When they realized they won't be getting anything],
they were pushed against the wall. Wala na silang mapuntahan [They had nowhere to run],"
Legarda said. "The military operations in the past few days helped," she said.

So, 'yung reported 2 Million, earlier forked over
    ....was "nothing"?

    anyway, like ante said....
watch out for the deluge of ABS-CBN exclusives/specials.
I wonder how much ABS CBN will make from advertisers
    for those programs?

This is not in the character of Abu Sayyaf. The Abu Sayyaf has everywhere to run to. And when they are pushed against the wall, they always push back. If this is true that they secured the release of Ces et al without money involved, then I highly doubt it's the Abu Sayyaf that kidnapped Ces and her party. More likely, some hired hands by the government to teach Ces a lesson.
