It was 50 years ago, today - well..... where where you?

I was 23-or 24 and surfing, going to school and enjoying life while VietNam was starting to raise it's head.

Anyway - the music never died and it's still as fresh and provocative now as it was then. Every song and/or album by The Beatles, was different, musically.

Creative beyond belief and they have never been equaled.

    Anyone believe in The Crossroad?

Well I just love the album, it's my favorite Beatles album. I has just returned from Vietnam and was "Honorably Discharged" from the USMC in June 1969. Soon after I bought that album. Sayonara.

Absolutely, and never will be. Back half of that record is one of the greatest things ever recorded.

    I'm a Beatles fan also.

It's all about demograpics. As the boomer generation grows old and dies off, so will the belief they were the greatest band of all time. I've been collecting records long enough to witness the value of certain 1950's records trend downward, big time. Elvis'collectibles are a ticking timebomb also.

I'm at the tail end of the Boomers.

and while the Beatles have certainly earned their place in history; towards the end, they got caught up in their own hype. Their earlier and middle career stuff was the best!

I play bass guitar and I play along with this --- over and over - savoring every nuance and throw-away notes in the bassline. Paul was a flipping genius on the bass.

Simple, succinct, additive and fully under control - hooked tightly into Ringo's kick. No funny stomps and effects - just pure bass with a little compression and some tiny bit of reverb. That's all.

    Ahhh yes! Better than sex.

12 years before I got here but definitely a classic. Personally I don’t care for it quite as much as The White Album, but timeless nonetheless.

I've always said they were on a different level. There was The Beatles, then everyone else. They put out a lot of crap too, but almost everything that came after them was influenced by them.

A "little"? off topic, but yeah MANY things are better than sex. Making Love is a whole different thing. Best definition I ever heard was "You have sex in the bedroom, you make love everywhere else.
