As a former student of a "black high school" I will tell you that anytime racially exclusive events were established, it wasn't a result of the white oppressors which is usually the implied tone on such matters.
That blonde sure does look happy about it
Sounds like before it was separated only because those students chose to attend either or...not because they had to.
She should....poor thing.
Where I live we have black churches and white churches. Black freemasons and white freemasons.
I'm sure racial segregation is bad, but forced integration is sometimes worse.
thank god the good peeps a the NYT are there looking after us!
When I was a kid we went to a black church. Still have fond memories of it, vague but fond. We moved away when I was 6, so it was when I was a real little kid.
You mean the Fair Housing Act didn't pan out as a prosperous Utopian society after all?
Affirmative Action didn't make us all live and work in harmonious bliss?
Bussing didn't create racially mixed high achieving pubic school graduates?
Maybe it's not us.
now-a-days people segregate themselves.
So apparently Prom was never an official school event, meaning it was put on by the kids, and put on how the kids wanted to put it. If they had wanted integrated prom, then they would have. But they didn't, so they didn't. Now they want an integrated prom, so they're getting one. Big deal.
I wonder how many ridiculed the all-black prom?
Us crackers sure have ruined this country......
