So the word is that AARP jacked up the price of healthcare on their employees because of Obamacare cost increases. How do you think the employees feel about it now?

Part of the story is that they increased the co-pay and raised premiums to their employees so they (AARP) will not have to pay taxes on their Cadillac-grade health insurance programs.

Anybody paying attention to their premiums or programs are likely going to see higher premiums, higher co-pays and higher prescription payments. My wife just word the premium she pays on our health insurance are going up, in addition to increases to those I mentioned.

What was that the President was saying about premiums going down?

My premiums have been going up by about 12 to 13 percent a year for the last ten in a row now. The same 13 percent increase just came again in the mail a month ago with the letter about the Obamacare changes, but it was still the same old 13 percent increase I was expecting anyway.

My Blue Cross supplement hasn't gone up in a while but I understand obamacare will drive it up a good amount in January.

Oh well, just one more reason to hate the democrats, as if I need another reason.

I know my Doctor is scared of what obamacare will bring. I hope he doesn't quit. It sounds like if it's as bad as they heard a lot of doctors are going to quit or retire early.

The AARP is nothing but a bunch of retired union execs taking advantage of old people.

I agree with that. Premium increases are not new. In the late '90s my BC/BS premiums were increasing as much as 23% every year, and it never ended.

Many that can just might. I know several docs who have stopped practicing medicine. They quit because of the BS dealing with insurance companies, because medicare and medicaid payments were not always worth it, fear of lawsuits, insurance costs, and uncertainty of the future of medicine.

I know many doctors who would like to quit, but will not because they owe too much in student loans, mortgages, are used to a certain standard of living, or simply do not know what else to do.

Very few people go into medicine for selfish reasons. We want to help people, but there might come a point when the sacrifices are no longer worth it.

Obamacare is not the cure. It is just a different disease.

I am an "old person" (58) and I told AARP where to shove it. They sign you up automatically, touting all the great "benefits" they offer (like AARP discounts). If you decide they are not your cup of tea (and anyone with a brain should conclude that), then you have to basically tell them in writing to cancel your membership and never contact you again.

Burned my AARP card about 18 years ago. The org is anti gun and support very liberal things. This is not the org that I want to be a member of.

Today I got a form to fill out for AARP life insurance.
They just don't learn. I've mailed back notes telling them what scum bags they are for backing obamacare. Got to look around for something heavy to put in this return envelope. I wonder if I just taped it to a brick.

Send the return envelopes back, they have to pay the postage.

Nope the insurance industries do not like AARP, they do to insurance companies what Wal-Mart does to it's suppliers.
