    Is either concept valid?

A’ight, I’ma bout to step in it pretty good, but please don’t anyone blow a gasket, it’s somewhat tongue in cheek.

Call me old fashioned, but I still think there are some things better handled by men, and other things better handled by women.

For example, as head of the household, I manage the finances, and as a part of that responsibility, I decide what cars the wife and I drive. I also do the actual car buying.

Yesterday, I take the mrs. to the dealership to checkout and test drive the car I’d picked out for her. Of course if she hated it, I’d go back to the drawing board, but thankfully she and I think alike, so that’s rarely a problem.

Anyway, once she confirms she likes the car, I take over the buying process, do a deal, and hand her the keys. This is so normal to me that I don’t ever give it a second thought.

But yesterday, I couldn’t help noticing another couple working with a salesperson at the desk over. In that scenario, the man was just sitting there while his wife attempted to conduct the business.

I laughed a little to myself overhearing her being emotional in her “logic”, and eventually not closing a deal. All I could think was that poor salesman having to entertain such a twit, especially while the “man” in the relationship was sitting right there, all quiet. It was bizarro world.

Anyway, that’s just one example of a job that I believe is man’s work. There are plenty of other tasks or scenarios that I believe are woman’s work.

Agree? Disagree? Discuss. The water’s just fine here in the deep end.

I picked out my wife’s latest purse.
She picked our latest Porsche GT3.

So put that in your pipe and smoke it. :D

No offense, but that’s exactly the kind of bad purchase a woman would make, and precisely why I handle such matters.

That’s sexist AND ignorant. I’d lay good money that my wife did a better job than you could have. She’s a multi-national Motorsport champ, a physician and it was our third GT3.

You think you’d do better job? :D What are your qualifications and expertise besides having testicles?

I assumed it was the guy who hated cruises and black people, but that’s just my best guess.

If anyone thinks that they’re gonna come out ahead at a car dealership, they got something else coming, man or woman.

Swing and a miss, Boo. I’m afraid the one getting hosed isn’t the same person you think is getting hosed. They see you coming, every single time.

I’ve always failed to see how a partnership can feature a “head of the house.” I always saw decision making as collaborative or 50/50. I would never presume to pick out my wife’s car.

In fact, I’ve yet to negotiate any car purchase in almost 35 years of happy marriage. I sit in the dealership until SHE makes the deal and then I sign the papers.

She is a much better negotiator than I am. I pay the bills and handle finances because that’s what I do better.

We’re a better team because we look at things that way.

Oh yeah, I still take out the garbage. I just wish she was better at that too.

Some of you think I’m an old poster, and some of you think I’m Hannie.

I really don’t get it, but I assure y’all I’m just plain ole Boo Berry.

But enough of the thread drift... do you think some places are generally more of a woman’s domain, or a man’s domain?

Wait until you are mandated to attend domestic violence classes. You will know what is appropriate and stop talking/thinking with your male dominating privilege! Men and women are equal...they can both cry, shoot a gun, be strong, make money, be leaders...

You should understand that men and women are equal under the law. There should be no gender stereotypes i.e... men are stronger, men are leaders...women are emotional, women should be pretty...etc.

I see enough people losing their 2A, time, money, and get jail/probation all the time over domestic violence stuff. It is protected by law so it is nothing to joke at. There's more to this topic but good luck!

Although there are certain personality traits more common to each gender; one should never assume that all women or all men are good at the same things.

Women tend to be more agreeable and nurturing and men more confrontational and aggressive. Generally, men focus on things and women focus on people.

These are generalizations but people are much more complex than that.

A man’s place is wherever he best contributes to the household, same for the woman.
Trying to shoehorn every woman (or man) into a stereotypical role is a prejudicial, bigoted error.
