We watched a bunch of Skidoos run on open water one year up north.

They lost a few when they tried to jump onto the ice from the water but the police dive team was there. I guess they heard about this in advance.

I've skipped mine across some small streams, and when crossing slush ice on the lakes it's pretty much the same deal, get the front up, goose it and don't let off the gas.

The older I get the less I want to have to do it.

In Wisconsin here, this is probably the best winter we have had in quite a few years. I don’t snowmobile myself, to many joint and nerve issues, but it is a fun time if you’re up to it.

Barely any snow here too.
I've put about 8 miles on the Polaris so far this year giving nephews and grandsons rides around the pasture when we did Christmas here.
