    Hello,

I ran across a G17, refurbished, with the slide covered in a flag motif. The pistol is in a square, black plastic case with two mags, a mag holder and a holster. These items fit like the case was made around them.

Has any one else seen one of these? Who did the refurbishing? Are they junk? Thanks.

A 'Tupperware' type box like this?

Or a 'clam shell' type like this?

What's the alpha prefix on the guns serial number?

Is it refurbished or just customized? There is a big difference.

The word refurbished was used. Upon closer examination, it appears customized would have been a better choice of words. The second pin hole (Top) has been filled and it looks like 1st generation internal parts were used. The case not say Glock on it. The alpha serial nos. are DWV.

    Should I take it back?

Do you like it? If so, keep it. If you are having any doubt what-so-ever, take it back.

Honestly, to me, it sounds like a hack job, if there are mix matched parts and holes being filled. I think, though, some of the 3rd gens might still be 2 pin hole so it might have not been filled, but you can tell better than I can from the pics.

I'd take it back if it were me though.

Yeah, it's just a 2 pin Gen3, very factory and nothing wrong with it. Looks like it was made in September of 2000.

I agree though, if you like it keep it, it's fine.....I've never been into aftermarket 'paint' jobs like that, but I kinda like it!

I don't think there is any reason to take it back, but I hope you didn't pay a premium for it.

I have a buddy that owns a local gun shop. He had a G17, G22 & G21 with that same flag pattern. He told me about them but I forgot the story. I'll have to give him a ring & I'll post back. I do remember he called the series "Red, White, & BOOM"

DON'T SELL IT! Here's the skinny. The "Red, White, & BOOM" series was a limited run glock did for OMB express. They were limited to 250 G17 & G22's, and 150 G21's. They come with a mag pouch, holster, and the special case.

LOL. There is no reason to get all excited about it. Just about anyone can request commemorative or special runs at any time. It doesn't really make them any more valuable.

Nowhere did I say they were more "valuable". He seemed to want to sell it based on it being a hack job customized gun. Since it's a limited factory run & a cool conversation piece to have vs. the typical black or OD I'd keep it.

I think I would keep it, if nothing else it sure would be a conversation piece ( no pun intended ) at the range.........

Thanks to all who answered. I have learned that there were two pin, Generation 2, G17s. I assumed that ALL Generation 2 Glocks had three pins.

I went to return it this morning and the guys told me much the same thing as you fellas have. So, I decided to keep it. I picked up 2 boxes of Wally World Federal and stopped off at the range, on the way home. The pistol shot great with no malfunctions. Yeah, it was the subject of much conversation. Thanks again for the input.

There are also 2 pin gen3 Glocks. The only difference, I can see, is the 2 or 3 pin frame.

You probably won't like these either.

This two pin Glock is beginning to grow on me. Instead of older, I must be growing tacky. Why, I can hold this thing up and Pledge Allegiance to it. You can too.
