    I made the move back to primarily revolvers.

    I’m home again.

    Do you typically carry one of them, or do you have a smaller revolver for that?
    I have a 6" GP-100, but one of the guns in my carry rotation is the S&W 642 j frame.

    Every once in a while I think about getting either a 3" S&W k frame or the Kimber revolver. That'd be 6 shots, and about 10 ounces more than my 15 ounce 642 for the Kimber, and maybe 20 more for the S&W K frame.

    I also think about a 3" S&W 7 shot L frame 686. That's about the same frame size as the GP-100. I've got a 6 shot S&W 686, and it uses the same speedloaders as the GP-100.

    Difficult to have a revolver work better than a Glock 26 for carry. Basically talking a 6 shot compared to 11 for the Glock.

    I like revolvers so I'm not saying one can't opt for it as the preferred carry gun :)

    Well, let's just say I'm gonna give it the old college try.

    As I shared on a thread about a week ago, I picked up the 3" GP100, and I intend to try carrying it. I was curious about the recommendations from others about a decent holster, and many chimed in about the excellence of Milt Sparks holsters.

    So, A few days ago, I ordered another Kramer holster. :supergrin:
    (For those with good intentions, I already know about quality gun belts.....)

    I've owned Kramers in the past, the quality is excellent, and the lead time was half that of a Milt Sparks, so I decided to just order another one.

    I've got backup if my plan to carry the 3" doesn't work. I also have a CZ P-07 that I carry in a Kramer vertical scabbard, as well as every man's go to, a Ruger LCP in a front pocket holster.

    I've owned Ruger double actions off and on through the past 38 years or so, with a Security Six being my first centerfire gun. It's just a level of comfort thats hard to describe, but at any rate, I'm comfortable for now.

    I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

    I enjoy revolvers as they are my passion. I love 38 spl and 357 mag ammo. Fun stuff. After seeing this thread I need to get some Ruger love. Ha! Enjoy and be safe.

    Oh, now I remember. And there I suggested the Galco summer comfort IWB. I have one designed for 3", and I use it for my 6 shot 686 which has a 2.5" barrel. My holster would work well with your GP-100 (I just this moment tested that it does indeed fit with my GP-100 frame).

    But I think you mentioned something about looking for other than IWB. If so, that's fine too.

    I do carry my 686 around my property and hunting/hiking. But when I go city, I switch to G26, G43, or S&W 642. Also have the LCP for special occasions. The reason I switch is mainly a consideration of the pluses/minuses of weight, capacity, and concealment.

    I shoot my 6 shot 686 a lot. But to justify more carry, that's where I'm considering a 7 shot version (which can be got for exact same size and weight). No big difference in capacity, but just a mental debate I have in my head. Ruger now makes a 7 shot GP-100, too.

    Here are some pics. I really like this holster, but that's because I like IWB :)

    Here are some of my own measured gun weights:

    Unloaded
    LCP = 9.7
    642 = 14.6
    G43 = 17.9
    640 = 22.2
    G26= 21.5
    686 2.5" = 35.6
    14 6" k frame= 37.2
    GP-100 6"= 44.6

    Fully loaded (includes full mag +1):
    LCP = 12.0
    642 = 17.3 (with 5, 158gr .38spl)
    G43 = 21.0
    640 = 24.8
    G26 = 26.3
    686 2.5" = 39.2 (with 6, 158gr 357 magnums)

    Wow.....one thing I gleaned from your data is the 10 oz difference between your 2 1/2" 686 and your 6" GP100. I didn't realize there would be that much difference.

    I know OWB carry will be a bit of a challenge, but I love the gun, and have to have some way to carry it anyway, soo....

    I’m ashamed to say it but I’m revolver poor. When I got the polymer itch a few years ago I sold off the few I had but now I’m bored with plastic. Those Rugers are pretty. Seems like a good place for me to start.

    Nothing better than a fine wheel gun. I’ve found them being my preference lately. All I even shop for are revolvers now.

    All my recent purchases have been revolvers, primarily S&W, but I did just pickup a New Model Vaquero in 45Colt/45ACP last week.

    I found out I had no 357magnum revolvers I could shoot and that's what started it.
