    So's everything short of titanium.

At least stainless steel doesn't depend on a coating to have corrosion resistance.

I would not have a 1911 in your situation, when I am around my boat or out on it, the FiveSeven or G33 goes on duty. Glocks simply excel in this environment. My G27 feel into the saltwater more than once and was still GTG.

And ruin a perfectly good excuse to pick up another 1911?

A Glock would be the obvious choice, yes. As would the HK P30 I've already got that I mentioned earlier. But, I want a .45, and my hands are freakishly small.

a 1911 wouldn't be my first choice around water because it sinks at a faster rate if dropped in water compare to a Glock. but If I must, Birdsong's Black T is what comes to mind.

You think that you can dive fast enough to catch a sinking Glock?

When I lived in South Florida on the water, I had a stainless Ed Brown Kobra Black-T'd. I figured that stainless+Black-T was at least doing my part to prevent rust.

The desert is tough on every firearm and not just M1911. As far as the sea goes, what would cause the sea to jam up the guns? Kelps?

You won't get a better answer from a better source anywhere.
