    Here are my wants.

    5 shot 38+p or .357

Small enough for appendix carry, I believe that means a 3inch or less.

Adjustable sights. Drift adjustable, or changeable.

Availablity of grips, holsters, and all that stuff.

If I'm barking up the wrong tree in any area here, just say so. I'm open to changing my mind on stuff.

You might check out the S@W pro series like the 640, they have dovetailed sights so you at least can drift adjust. Taurus also offers drift adjustable on thei small frame revolvers.
Another thought would be a 337 Ti/scan smith, it has a three inch, though, but fully adj sights.

That does seem to be THE gun. A little on the expensive side....but it would be what I want.

A shrouded hammer, or a bobbed hammer would be better.Less likely to get hung up on the draw.........

I am sure someone makes one, but I have never seen a shrouded hammer snubbie with adjustable sights.

Shoot the ammo it's made for, and the adjustable sights are much less important.

158gr +P, preferably LSWCHP, but 158 gr +P in whatever flavor you can get.

'Round nose lead' is the LAST choice for anything serious. Good practice ammo but don't carry it if theres any choice.

And a 3" barrel with quality ammo is minimal for testing your skills. Even ten or fifteen rounds a day won't leave you much to learn your SECOND year at it..

After looking at it, it does seem unlikely.

I wonder if a shroud can be installed later. I'll look that up.

You could do the Waller and Son shroud, but then again, you want adj sights which negate the benefit of de-snagging a hammer spur.

Another thing; you could just get a boring 442/638 or similar, then add Crimson Trace laser grips with can be adjusted.

That seems to be the gun right there.

You cannot go wrong with the Ruger SP101, esp if you plan on shooting a lot .357s.

With my current carry gun I've killed 2 foxes, one of those running, and a bunch of other animals that either needed to go away, or needed to be eaten. I don't think the laser is going to work for that kind of job. Great for badguys, maybe not perfect for the farm though.:wavey:

If weight is a factor get a 642(in a pocket). If you like some heft get a 649(on the belt/in the waistband).I know this first hand.My good friend bought an adjustable sight 3" 60 and the sights kept coming loose. He traded it away.YMMV.tom.

Seems like there is a cheaper Taurus copy for every S&W gun. I have a Taurus with adjustable site but it is an 8-shot 357. Just a bit too big for concealed carry.

Taurus revolvers seem to be OK. I would not trust any of their semis though.
