    Pug,

Your 2nd list should also provide the population of those groups (for those of us who are slow with math :))

Notice that all such lists rely on the reporting mechanisms of the countries involved. Some of those are a long way from the actual number of people murdered, I'd bet.

And, add to that the fact that in some of those countries life expectancy is such that folks don't last long enough to really piss someone else enough to warrant homicide.

    All things considered...:whistling:

mmm...now that I cal'c it I'm calling a little B.S on these lists, which I grabbed from nationmaster.com. If you use their murder numbers the U.S popluation is around 378,000,000 yet their own website quotes U.S population at just over 303,000,000. So for comparison sake

Pop based on murder numbers vs pop based on what their website lists

Columbia 43 million vs. 45 million
South Africa 43.5 million vs 48.8 million
    U.S.A 378.5 million vs 303.8 million

Either way you slice it...South Africa is not a paradise. My cousin, a former U.S Congressman and Ambassador to Tanzania for several years used to tell me "its not that bad."

Then again, he and his family regularly traveled in heavily armored vehicles with a 20+ team of bodyguards.

That is for sure. Missing vs. dead vs murdered makes a huge difference.

This has been quite a major thing over here, because of his position, but also because murdering of white farmers is certainly not new and has been a problem that our government will not admit for years. There are a few people who are really going mad over it... The main reason being that we have a corrupt(proven), mini-hitler for a president of the ANC* youth league, who for the past while has been getting up at rallies and singing songs about "picking up his machine gun" and "killing the boer**". These are songs from the apartheid era. Of course our government is now trying to say that the president of the youth league singing songs about killing farmers and youths killing farmers are completely unrelated...

Not only this - once our supreme court recently ruled that it was considered hate speech, the entire ANC got behind the case and appealed it. It's synonymous with the democrats getting up and singing "give me my machine gun" and "kill the rednecks/southerners", and then the entire party challenging their right to sing it in court.

He also decided to sing it while on a trip to Zimbabwe to learn about land reform and nationalization. Zimbabwe to learn? Yes - it's not a mistake/typo...

The farm murders (like all murders) have really been tragic, and proved numerous times by local and overseas crime scene specialists to be hate crimes and not "normal crime" as the government keeps saying that they are. Most of the time the wives/daughters are raped while their already tortureed husbands/fathers are forced to watch before all being hacked to pieces and/or burned. More often than not nothing is even stolen. Its not normal opportunistic crime.

I'm Jewish and therefore I obviously think the guy was an idiot (neo nazi ideas etc.), especially in the older days. I would not have gone out of my way to be nice to him but he certainly did not derserve to be murdered, and certainly not in the way in which he was murdered. I think most white people are more angry at the moment because they are finally realizing what is going on as apposed to being upset about Terreblanche. It's a bit of the case of the last straw on the camels back.

Also - contrary to what government feeds the majority of our population - not all white people here are "white supremacists" and he was not the "father" of all white people. Many black people here who still think that every white person hates them were singing songs about how they killed "our father". The guy was certainly not my father or any kind of role model for me...

*ANC - African National Congress - The party in power at the moment
**boer - literally the Afrikaans word for farmer but is often used to refer to all white people
