I ran across a box of RWS 9mm ammo at Wally World - 124gr RN. It was almost $17 for a box of 50, while the Federal ammo next to it was about $10 a box of 50. Is this the same RWS that makes outstanding pellets? If so, I was unaware that they even made ammunition. The RWS logo appears to be the same or very nearly the same.

Is there something special about this ammo to justify the price. Is it supposed to be super accurate or capable of bring down Russian aircraft. I can't see why a box with bullets 10gs heavier would be 70% more than Federal which has a good reputation and shoots very well in my Glock 19.

The RWS is match grade ammo hence the high price.

It is premium ammo imported from Switzerland and not cheap promotional Russian ammo.

I tested a box in my 17 last week. Not good.
Light primer strikes on several rounds, a few stovepipes. This was 2 mags through. Now never a jam from before from my 17. I switched ammo & ran 5 more mags through without a problem. I left the rws ammo at the range I wanted no part of it.

i can understand that it might be match grade ammo but it is just way to expensive for my target shooting tastes. And my competition ammo is all match grade reloads and still runs cheaper than the RWS

Unless you are shooting 50 yard bullseye with factory 9mm ammo, it is too expensive. Regular factory FMJ is plenty accurate for any normal shooting. I'll stick with the $10 stuff.

Strange that a previous poster had problems with his G17...I ran 5 boxes of the RWS through my G19 on Saturday and it was flawless...

i see the orange box rws for 16.00 then look over and see wwb 100rd for 23.00 and if thats out theres usually remington for 12.00... not much of a decision for me... haha

i call all the local walmarts regularly asking about ammo and stock up when its around... i like to keep 1000 rounds on hand all the time incase something crazy happens... i'd really like to keep 3-5k but being a college student thats a bit much

    Incorrect.

It is German ammunition from the same company that makes RWS air guns, pellets, and ammunition products.

Our local indoor range won't let us shoot RWS. They claim that the ammo is steel core.

Off subject, I think, but the Euro is worth less than the dollar right now. They're having money trouble too.

Good ammo. I ran it with my G17Gen4 and it was flawless.
