I went to SPD the other day in search of a G19. They said they didn't have any in stock and had no idea when they'd get them. I then went down the road to another dealer and got the same answer. This prompts me to ask: Is there a shortage of G19s? Can Glock simply not meet the demand?

The G19 is probably the most popular model. Demand went way up in 2008 and has stayed nearly the same since, Glock has done their best to meet demand but they don't want to go overboard and flood the market with excess stock.

I had a short sit down with Glock factory reps yesterday. The shortage is across the board. 9mm is the most popular so it shows up there first. A quote from them " any Distributor or dealer that says he has a lot of Glocks in stock is a liar".

It took 3.5 weeks for my local shop to get my gen 4 g19 in from their supplier. Longest wait of my life! :brickwall:

Seems like supplies of specific Glocks tend to ebb and wane leading me to believe that Glock may produce guns in batches of specific models.

I bought a 19 G4 two weeks ago from my local dealer. He had three in stock when I bought mine. Was back in the shop a couple of days later and the other two were gone. He says it's the current hottest seller for him, but there's no issue getting more inventory from Glock distributor.

It took me many phone calls to local FFL's to find my 17.. I must have called nearly 14-15 shops before I found one in stock...

The frustrating thing is when I asked when they expected more in, the only answer they could give was "sometime before April". That being said, I went ahead and reserved mine so I'll be first in line when they actually do come in to the shop. Patience is a virtue, right?

I also wonder if this might not be one of the reasons that there is no Glock carbine, single stack, etc. etc. Seems like in any given week finding a G17 or G19 can be an issue, possibly based on lack of unused production capacity.

When I went looking for my G27 I couldn't find one locally. I asked one shop and they said they could get one in a month. I went to my regular shop and ordered through them instead, 7 days later I had an OD G27 in my hands.

I'm sure I could find one locally if I looked hard enough, or even off of glockstore.com, but I'm utilizing my GSSF coupon for this year, so my options are limited. I don't really feel like driving all the way to to Ed's Public Safety, so SPD is my only other GSSF option.

My local dealer (largest in KY) uses 6 or 7 different wholesalers and none have ANY G19's , gen 3 or gen 4. MAYBE it is time (HELLO GLOCK) that they get some more G19's already assembled from Austria (Austrian proof marks)! Like they did a few years ago. Please!

I'm thinking that this could be the result of the record holiday sales draining the supply chain.

    Adventure Outdoors had absolutely 0 G19s. Plenty of G17s, G26s, & even a G34. Go figure.
