A co-worker and I are bored to death, so we were discussing movies of the 1980s. And really, a lot of them were just terrible. And we're not talking about low-budget stuff here, but films from studios that should have done better.

    Foot Loose?
    Cliff Hanger?
    Road House?
    Over The Top?
    Blood Sport?

Really, when "Back To The Future" is a gem, you know the decade was bad.

But, top be fair, "Big Trouble In Little China" was good too.

If the guy in it had a white tank top, it was probably good.

But seriously, Road House was a steaming pile of feces. It's for bouncers to watch and jerk off to.

I dunno, Escape from New York, Red Dawn, The Blues Brothers, the first Lethal Weapon, the first Die Hard, and a few others were pretty tolerable..... For pure drama, Taps, Southern Comfort, Lords of Discipline, and a bunch of others were good, and for comedy, Caddy Shack and Vacation remain comedy gold to this day....

There some horrible movies, to be sure, but we could say that about today as well....

Oh, and Lionheart. Evidently Van Damme never made a good movie.

I thought Cliff Hanger was an early 90's POS. It was big in its day though.

80's were pretty decent in the sci-fi / horror department. They were REALLY bad in the cop / buddy movie department.

Are you kidding? The 80s was a great decade for movies.

Lethal weapon, E.T, goonies, ferris bueller, aliens, ghost busters, Beverly Hills cop, national lampoon vacation, terminator, the shining, beetle juice, caddy shack... Jesus the list goes on.

Loved Back To The Future! Other good ones were An Officer And a Gentelman, a Christmas Story, Breakfast club, one of the Death Wishes, Christmas Vacation, Nightmare on Elm Street. Too many to mention that were really good!

I went to junior high with one of the actresses in that movie. I think she was on screen for 3 whole minutes. :rollsmiley:

The 80's were the golden age of movies for me. I was a teenager, my hometown still had their old fashioned marquee movie theaters instead of the sterile multi-plex that replaced them. Action, Horror, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Teen Drama... The 80's had it all.
