This is haunting me for some reason. I played a arcade game back in the 80's, that talked.

It sounded like a game show host and when you started as player #1 it would say, "Contestant One"

Then when you died, it would say "Ten Seconds" as the count down to continue the game started to click down.

For some reason I remember that, but I can't remember teh game itself or the name. It annoys me because I remember playing it a lot and my google searches came up empty.

Was it a run around and shoot everything in sight and patterned like a game show?

    Smash brothers, I think.

That was it.... Smash TV. I loved playing that game. One of the lines in the game was "Total Carnage! I love it!"

    THAT'S IT ! Smash TV

I was playing Call of Duty with my Nephews and I belted out "10 seconds" when the one nephew died in the game. They asked me what it was from, and I told them it was an old arcade game, and for the life of me I could not remember anything about the game.

I knew the GT brain trust had the answer.

Speaking of such, if anyone can find an 80's game called Bagman, that is playable, I'd highly appreciate it.

Total Carnage was a great game.

The Punisher was another one that was always fun.

And of course Mortal Kombat... sooo much better in the arcade!

Was that in the first one where you got to fight him in the bottom of The Pit?

No... I wasn't that cool either, haha.

I can remember how people standing around would boo if the player didn't know how to do a Fatality move though!

IIRC, you had to have 2 perfect matches in the pit, without ever hitting Block.

    +1

Both my kids and I are dying to see it. Great marketing move for Disney/Pixar. You know the 30 and 40 year old dads will be more likely to check it out, compared to the typical princess or little lost fish movies they make.

Legally it reminds me of Who Frames Roger Rabbit. They had to get a lot of different video game companies to agree to waive their copyrights on the images and names of the games and characters. Then again, the movie would
should drum up new interest and business on some classic games. Just from the trailers, my kids are real curious about Q-bert, and they want to play it.

Smash TV looks a lot like Berzerker or whatever it was called. Perhaps that's why I never played it. "Oh, it's game X with different colors."

I was a Defender fan. The "3D" look seemed so cool. I sucked at it - probably b/c I spent too much time looking at the scenery.
