8.5" or 10.5"? I'm thinking 10.5" but I have an AR rifle chambered in same. Don't want to buy another upper but I probably will anyway. Any experience with both? An AR10 muzzle break sounds like it makes either experience a bit nicer.

I went 10”, still a lot of concussion blast but manageable with a good muzzle device.
I only run 8” or shorter in .300bo or 9mm.
For comparison, I also have an AK pistol with a 12” barrel and it can make HUGE fireballs without any muzzle device. It’s fun, but I’d rather not deal with that out of an 8” barrel. My AR 10” with both an A2 and with a flash can doesn’t do that.

10.5” is as short as I’d go with a 7.62x39mm. In fact I just bought a KS47 with a 10.5” barrel and a A2 flash hider. Haven’t shot her yet, but follow my thread on it and I’ll let you know how she does.

Anything less than 10.5” I would want to be a pistol caliber.

10.5 is what the Soviets used on the AKMSU and Zavasta uses on their M92. At that length most of the propellant is burned, and that's as short as I'd go.

I saw your thread right after I posted this. That is what I'm looking at also. Looks like a solid pistol.

Better not hesitate. I thought I would split the cost up a little by ordering the lower first and the upper the next month, and wound up waiting several months for them to come back in stock. They sell out quickly every time they get a few in stock.

Now it’s dead heat of summer and I have little motivation to go shoot my new toy in 95 degree heat and 85% humidity.

Probably be fall before I really to get to enjoy it.
