I know I've seen a thread on this, but I couldn't find it.
Basically, I'm behind enemy lines in NY, and in the mood to buy a new carry gun. I have a p2000sk, 647, & pm9 currently, I'm thinking maybe single stack .45, but want to stay in the subcompact frame.

Any ideas what I should research?

I have a Colt New Agent that has gone about 500 rounds with no issues. A Glock 36 comes to mind as well. I don't own one because the G30 seemed more useful with 10+1 with no real concealment sacrifice.

The Sig 938 looks nice. The 238 is the same in .380.

Any of the Officer's frame size 1911s should work in .45. Glock's 36 IIRC should fit the bill.

This is NY legal..and probably PO's gun grabbers more than any other pistol.

I would go with the XDs 45, I had one and regret selling it, the plus 2 (7) mags were real nice and the spacer is nice and tight against the frame.
I was getting nice groups at the range, but wanted more than 5 on a flush mount mag so I put it up for sale and it was gone locally the same day, I will own another one for sure.

S&W Shield? Beretta Nano? Kimber Solo? Ruger LC9? Not .45, but still fit the bill....

Yep. If you're forced to go with less rounds, make em BIGGER!

Another option is to leave NY and pay your taxes to supporting a free state instead of enemies. Putting my money where my mouth is, I fled MD after 20 years of BS and breathe the free air of VA.

Is any sub frame 1911, DA/SA?
I generally carry @12:30, and the thought of a hammer back carry kind of scares me.

The Kimber Ultra Carry II is 1.28" wide, the Glock 30/30SF/30S are 1.27" wide, and the Glock 36 is 1.10" wide.

What the hell?! I figured the Kimber would be the thinnest!

You have gazillions of options these days, XDs, Beretta Nano, Walther PPS, Sig P938 or P238, Glocks, the list goes on. It seems the "super model" (skinny plastic) trend continues.

I carry a 40 Shield and love it, I don't feel under gunned. 6+1 flush fit or 7+1 extended mag with .40 cal power, it's the obvious choice, great trigger on this little gun as well.

That must include some of the controls because a 1911 slide is far thinner than a G30.
