I'm trying a Remora holster for carrying my 642, but it just seems a lot more comfortable to mexican carry. Cylinder just under belt, grip just over belt line.

It seems like the trigger pull is heavy enough to prevent an AD. How bad an idea is it?

I pocket carry mine in my back right pocket. I tried the Mexican route but wasn't comfortable with it.

JK is right. The hip grips do need the T grip, You will spend about $50.00 for both pieces. I use the Hip Grip and have done so for about 15 years. The DeSantis is a more modern and probably more durable. The Hip Grip seems like cheap plastic. Mine have never broken but they don't scream quality.

You will not need the T-Grip with the DeSantis.

I buy a left handed, or ambidextrous, ballistic nylon belt holsters.
Then I take shears and cut off the thumb break, mag holder and other extraneous garbage I don't need.
    Except for the belt loop.

Then I flip it to cross draw or like a belly gun.
Outside the waist band OWB. But inside the belt.
Using a reinforced belt about 2" over size to accommodate the gun and holster.

My S&W 640-1 357 carries sweet like that.

I used the Desantis clip grip with my S&W 642. I think you should give it a try.

well we just had a cop have a negligent discharge at a mall here because he liked to carry Mexican ...
was at the pretzel shop went to pay and said he felt his weapon slide down his leg it discharged... a lady felt a sting to her leg nothing serious...I do not think mexican is wise... could bring you a lawsuit or worse!

Keep using the Remora holster. I have one and found it to be the most comfortable and concealable holster I have ever owned. I can carry my SigPro 2340 in it without a problem.

Here in S.C. it is illegal to carry with out a holster that covers the trigger. The bad thing about MC is that the gun is not secure. Period.

I admit many years ago I carried a S&W model 60 that way. Today, I would never carry a gun in my belt without a holster. Not only a safety issue but a liability issue if you don't. (You just can't risk it).

I use a Tucker IWB for my SP101. Totally comfortable carry and secure - use a holster!:whistling:

The first time your gun slides out of your pant leg you will re think this.

I like that law, and totally agree with you on the lack of security.
