I am in a quandry...I am patiently awating the 4th Gen G19 to come out, but thorughout this forum (and numerous others) there have been problems with the 4th Gen systems. FTE's abound, failure to lock back after the last round, recoil spring slipping out of position...I have heard that the 4th Gen G17 has the recoil of a .22lr pistol, new/upgraded grip, changeable backstrap...but from all I have read there is problems...has anyone had the glock standard experience with their new Gen 4 weapon?

Bought a G22 4th Gen... sold my 3rd gen shortly after. The new grip and mag release are much needed changes. No problems with mine after 1000+ rounds..... it is a duty gun and trust my life to it.

I have a G17 Gen4. Its a great gun. My son had 2 FTF on our first night out with it. We have now had 600 Flawless rounds. Who ever told you a Gen 4 G17 has the recoil of a 22LR I feel is off base. It has just a bit less recoil than a Gen3 IMO. I've read the G22 Gen4 has much less felt recoil than the Gen 3 G22's.

Not had a problem with my Gen4 G22. Shot at least 700 rounds thru it, 400 the first day. I have a Gen3 RTF2 G22 and it works just as well.

I also prefer the rtf2 to the gen 4's. I have the g22rtf2 and wouldnt trade it for anything.

I have the 17 and 22 4th gen, roughly a thousand rounds through each, both have been 100% no matter what I do to them.

    Maybe I am lucky.

My G4 G17 has been flawless for 4400 rounds. I lot of what you hear is from people that do not own and have not fired a G4 Glock.

I like my Gen4 so much, that I sold my Gen3. My 17 has been totally reliable. As for having the recoil of a .22, I wish, and someone lied to you. The recoil is better in my opinion, but not reduced that much.

The Gen4 is my favorite and I can't wait to add more to my collection. Every bit as reliable as the close to a dozen other Glocks I own and have owned.

    0 FTE's.

0 failures to lock back when empty. (riding the slide stop lever has nothing to do with generation)

The recoil assembly moves out of the initial position upon assembly on ALL Glocks, and has nowhere else to go once the pistol is assembled.

My previous "standard Glock experience" has been 100% reliability and function per the manual, and the Gen4 has been no different.

I concur with all of the positive remarks. Initially when the gen 4 came out I didn't really see any benefit to the upgrades, that is until I handled one. The full size pistols have always been a bit big in the grip for me homever the Gen 4 G17/22 have changed all of that. The grip in my opinion is perfect for my smaller hands. I cant say enough good about the texturing and the mag release as well.

I ended up purchasing both a G22 and then a G17. As far as shooting, I did have a few hiccups early on with what I consider to be lower power ammo with the G17 however after a couple hundred rounds it appaears all of the popular cheaper commercial mfg practice ammo works well. I have not found the pistol to be sensitive to limpwristing as some have said on other forums.

I'm looking forward to the Gen 4 G19 and G23 to come out. I think my collection of Gen 3 pistols will start to dwindle over time, that's how much I like the Gen 4.

Thanks for the help...I have seen more posts with problems than with success. I am definitely going to get a Gen 4 G19 when they come out.

The small few seem to have the loudest voice sometimes. If you search, you will clearly see the bulk of folks are very happy with the Gen 4's. Mine has been flawless as I expected.
