Anyone else notice the barrel on their 4th gen have a matte like finish? juts picked up a G17 over the weekend and thought it was odd feeling and not shiny at all like the 3rd gens

I have a newer g26 with the same finish on the barrel. I see lots of 3rd gens now with the "grayish barrel" and yea it does feel kinda weird. I bought a pair of meprolites and they match the barrel perfect. I like the look. But also like the old shinny barrels too.

I bought a 3rd gen 23rtf2 a few weeks ago, the barrel had that matte finish. It does feel weird, and I hope it holds up :dunno:

my guess is that they would not do it unless it made it more durable in some way. after putting some rounds through it appears as if it may be wearing a little less
