It's a little scary, you might release the mag instead of the safety!!!

IMO, The unique thing about Glocks is that they're like revolvers. No safety to worry about. Putting a safety in makes the Glock just like any other handgun.

Here's something Glock made for New Zealand Police (I attached a photo below), they should just use something like this than that weird one they showed in that Dutch Magazine...

    KS,

Can you just post the photo as an attachment. It doesn't want to come out on Photobucket, which says that the bandwidth limit for the photo has been exceeded

    Thanks, KS.

I can see the ambi mag release from the photo, but not the provision for a safety button or switch. I hope they don't push through with the safety... or at the very least, they only offer it as an option. It would just be another unnecessary complication IMO.

I think that the safety is an option - apparently Glock is trying to regain some lost ground in the Law Enforcement market and some Departments want safeties on the pistols their officers are going to use. Also, the US govt is looking to update their SOCOM pistol, and Glock is making a serious push to fill this need. They face some competition from S&W's M&P pistols, even Taurus which made a 24/7 SOCOM pistol.

I carry a G19, sometimes a Seecamp 32, sometimes a S&W revolver. They all function the same... draw, point, squeeze, bang. That is how I practice. A safety on a Glock is not only unnecessary... it could have catastrophic consequences in the stress of a deadly encounter. I hope it never comes about or it is an optional feature. Not just a feature I choose not to use... I don't want it on the gun period. Of course my G19 only has 20,000 rounds through it... so I may never have to replace it.

I agree wholeheartedly sir! That's the reason why my dad, my sister, and my brother in law all own Glocks - no more safety switch to worry about during times of crisis, just draw, grip it well, point, and pull the trigger when needed.

My dad has a G26 with rougly 12,000 rounds through it, and my G19 has around 2,000...no idea as to how many my sis and bro-in-law have fired through theirs. My dad's is a still as sweet shooter, and I live mine as well. I don't plan on selling it either, after all, it's my 1st gun!

Although they're offering the safety option for LEO's, I wonder how most cops who carry current Glocks feel about this?
