He started in 1986. How many of us or his teammates were even born then?

He's the oldest pitcher to win a game in the majors. I don't know if they are counting pre-1900, but the old record was another 49 year old guy in 1932.

These old guy stories are fun to watch.

That's pretty cool, but I think the more impressive feat is Moyer coming back from tommy john surgery at that age and still being a great pitcher.

    Wow. Dat's old!

Wakefield had an outside chance at it. Knuckleballers always do. But he didn't have 4 more seasons in him - not with the Sox anyhow. I bet he could have been picked up for some do-nothing team and played the 4 seasons, but he watched others do that and look foolish. Wake was a nail biter many times, but a class act all the way.

Congrats to Moyer. His fastball is averaged at 80mph and he can still record a win and NOT be a knuckleballer. Wow.

Nolan Ryan was 46 when he won his last 5 games and he still threw a 94 mph fastball.

There was some final Jeopardy question where the answer was the knuckleball. The question was quoting a player who said something like, "It's like trying to hit a butterfly with hiccups. For your $1900 prize, who said this?
