45 ACP Speer LE Gold Dot 200gr. +P HP Ammo

Anybody run these through a G36? i'm thinking about moving to these from 185gr for carry ammo as they are really inexpensive and +p rounds.

I have never fired the gold dots but i used to carry the cor-bon 200gr + p's with no problem , not really that much kick and at 7 yards i could clover leaf them . Really liked them..........:wavey:

Kicks like a mule in a G30SF. Probably worse in a G36. I'd counsel trying a small amount before loading up.

Whatever happened to the old "Flying Ashtray" load? Was it a Gold Dot?

When I had a G36, +P ammo was the only stuff that would function 100%. Every training ammo I shot all had FTEs.

    Thanks for replies guys.

I'm also mainly looking for onions on reliability and to see if anyone has had feeding issues with this round or other failures in a G36.

No, it was not a gold dot. It has been gone from production for many years.

There is controversy over this round. Last time it was tested, it failed to expand through IWBA denim. Since then, someone has claimed their new ammo looks different. I wouldn't chance it, though. I would run 230gr HST+P. The gun can take it and the HST being a robust expander would be a good choice from a small weapon. Provided you can handle the recoil. If you can't find the HST, I would go for the Gold-Dot "short barrel" load in 230gr. Corbon DPX in 160gr would also work very well.

I prefer the 230 grain loads in my Glock 36.
