I walked in to a Wally world in Upstate SC today and thought I won the lottery or something. They had Federal 9mm FMJ as far as the eye could see for $9.95 along with WWB 100rd bricks of .45 ACP for $34.95. They even had .40 but I don't own a gun to shoot it.

Same here at my local Wally World. I've been off the last week from work and have made it a point to go and check to see if they have any 9mm or 45 ACP ammo. I've been extremely lucky and as anoher GT'r stated, maybe blessed because I've walked out on 4 different days with my 6 limit allotment of either 9mm or 45 ACP WWB 100 bulk packs each trip. Finally getting to stock back up on my supply.

I wish it would stay on the shelves here for a week.... If your after 9mm, 40 or 45, you better get it when you see it becuase it wont last a day on the shelves here.

The Walmart on Cattleman in Sarasota has had lots of 40 for some time (for the last month?). I picked up the last box of 357 Mag last night - UMC SJHP, 100Rds for $44.99.

They also have lots of 45LC and a few 44 Mag. I haven't seen 9mm in a while. It has been at least 2 years since the last time I saw 45 ACP at a Walmart.

I moonlight in theft deterrance at a Walmart in Northern Illinois. I check the ammo display case everytime I work. Plenty of 50 round .40 cal. ammo. for around $14.00 per box. Yesterday they had a couple of 100 round .380 value packs, a few .357 sig, .357 magnum, and 38 special 50 round boxes. .45 cal. 230 gr. Winchester White Box in 100 round packs were $32.00.
I've not seen much in the way of 9mm.
Things are looking up. This is the first time I've seen .380 cal. ammo in monthos.

Here in South Ga., the Wal-Mart seems to almost always have Federal 180 gr. .40 S&W in stock. Yesterday they also had three boxes of WWB 110 gr. JHP .357 S&W Mag. and 6 100 rd. value packs of WWB .380 ACP for $36/100 rds. I am saving my ammo money to buy a Dillion Square Deal B... I figure I can have more ammo to shoot and not have to depend on Wal-Mart for availability or price. But if they get any .38 Special in stock I'm probably going to go ahead and buy some as today I bought a beautiful COLT Det. Special 3rd Model. I am really looking forward to taking it to the range.

i usually end up getting the 6 box limit two or three days in a row when they do have it.

another thing ive noticed is they ALWAYS have an excellent selection of 12 gauge shotgun available. but the .223 and pistol rounds get snatched up fairly quickly

Our walmart always has .223. It's way overpriced though, I think thats why.

Since gun shops are price gouging on ammo WalMart is the only place you can get ammo for a reasonable price. Problem is the ammo manufacturers have Walmart at the bottom of the priority list. Places where ammo is jacked up $20 higher are going to get the ammo first leaving Walmart the scraps, which is why they only get a few boxes at a time instead of cases of ammo.

I spoke to a manager from our local walmart and he told me they order ammo constantly, but the ammo trickles in because they aren't selling at a high price like other gun shops. On top of that those same gun shops know the shipping schedule of the trucks and they send people from the shop down to purchase ammo from walmart 2 or 3 times a week.

I've actually seen this myself with one of our local shops, who I don't do business with anymore. While in the shop I saw a stack of the 100rd WWB 45acp ammo, same stuff walmart sells, and I guess the guy forgot to remove all the stickers because the walmart price tag was sticking out from under his own price tag.
