Although I'm a bow hunter at heart, I've killed a few deer with my Ruger Super Redhawk, now I'm getting the itch to kill one with my Glock. Does anyone have any experience deer hunting with the .40 caliber?

We've discussed it quite a bit here before.

My personal opinion is that service caliber handguns like the 9mm, .40, and .45 will kill deer, IF the shooter can place the shot, IF they have the discipline to wait for the perfect shot, and if they can limit their shots to short distance and smaller deer.

But they are not a great choice for a primary hunting arm.

I've used .401 bullets in the fashion of a 10mm. Will I used that combo again, probbaly not.

Better caliber exist from the proven 357/41/44magnums and th 45colt.

Now if your talkin 40sw, the biggest problen are no reall hunting bullets are designed around this round.
