You can't demote him, that's racist!! Also, even if he's reduced in rank then forced to retire, he still gets his retirement based on his 'high 3' - the 3 years of service during which he made the most money. Which were most likely when he was serving as the AFRICOM commander....it's a sham....

He is retired, but stays on active duty for this charade.

Instead of 1/2 his base pay, he is getting full pay, tax free Seperate Rations, tax free Housing Allowance, and maybe even TDY per diem while this goes on.

They might article 15 him and give him a fine.

Its not like he sent his daughter to Mexico for spring break with 15 friends and 50 secret service agents all at tax payer's expense.

He's already been demoted. He's not in a 4 star slot so he's demoted to 2 star effective the moment he was taken out of the slot. 2 star is as high as you can go without being appointed and the appointment only lasts as long as you're filling a position that requires the rank.

He needs to be demoted some more....maybe to Pvt. He's a crook. No two ways about it.

Duh! When a white guy steals millions and gets confined to house arrest in his multimillion dollar mansion, it's because he's smart, successful, and nonviolent, not because he's white. When anyone else steals millions and doesn't get a harsh prison sentence, it's because they got a break for being a minority. Stupid PC crap.

Let an A1C steal $2,000 worth of gear and see how fast he gets the boot. This is thousands of times worse given the amount and the position he held while it occurred.

What's the big deal? After all, a former President committed perjury and he never got punished, so why are we surprised that this guy didn't face any real punishment?

I agree. A General needs to set an example. This guy failed to do so.

He should not be allowed to retire as a General.

Times are changing. That's not the winning card right now. His only chance is to come out of the closet immediately and publicly admit he's gay. :whistling:

I am with a guard unit here in the state and let me tell you, the politics and dynamic of the way the base operates, makes me not wanna serve under them anymore. Been there 10 years going on 11 and have seen it all. I am sure these shenanigans that are happening locally happen at just about every base.

True that. It's always politics with the "black shoes."

Close. :) Usually anyone stealing large sums of government money is called "senator."

Seriously though, I've been on several engagements auditing client expense reports. The "violations" really can depend on what is being done.

For example, if he went on business related trips with a large staff and just didn't get the proper approvals etc beforehand sure it is a major violation, but not the same as if he was going on a vacation with his family on the company dime.

I don't think we know enough (at least based on this particular article) to make an informed decision.

It's plain outrageous. He spent massive sums of money for his own personal gain. He requested to use military aircraft for a personal trip and was denied. So he scheduled a short meeting and called it an official trip and went anyways. He stayed in expensive luxury hotels all the time. 5 car motorcades? Really?!?! He blatantly abused his position to live in luxury. I'm curious what his salary was as I'm sure it wasn't chump change. Allowing him to retire as a General is an insult.
