They are among the best production SA/DA pistols made.

In a constant state of disbelief,
I have a 3913NL custom. Even before the customizations it is one of the best guns I own.

I STILL cant find any of the "smaller" ones around the only ones I can find locally are the "larger" full size models ive been looking for a 6906 or s 3913/14 fr a while now not a one to be found :(. Im not up on S&W's can anyone tell me what the 3rd gens that are the same size or smaller than the Glock 23 are that seems to be the max size of gun I can CC well/comfortably.

Keep looking for that 6906, it's the best of the bunch in my opinion. I have small hands and even in double stack form the 6906 fits perfectly. I see no reason to go down to a 3913 single stack really.
Bud's had some police trade ins a few months ago but a lot were dogs.
I could have had one for $250 and in hindsight should have nabbed it but it was rougher than I wanted at the time.
Private owner ones in excellent shape are much rarer it seems and the price just keeps climbing.

is the 6906 about glock 23 size and is it thinner, fatter, or about the same...I didnt want anything bigger than a G23 for CC.

It's about the same size in lenght and height, but a few ounces heavier. The grip is a bit wider but not by much, and the barrel is a little thinner on the Smith.
So for carry it's about a draw I would say. It's a compact gun, but not a subcompact.
Don't be put off by the grip width though, I am very sensitive to fat grips, my fingers just won't reach the triggers in guns with fat wide grips, and the 6906 fits perfectly.

Pretty much the same. The differences measure in thousands of an inch.
From the butt to top of the slide my 23 mics at 4.5" and the 6904 at 4.65" . I didn't measure sights or with mags in place because both can be had with different kinds of sights and mags.
My 23 measures 7" from the muzzle to the rear. 6904 measures 6-3/4".
The 23 mics 1.255" wide and the 6904 1.245" across the butt.

S&W autos are reliable and underrated. I have a S&W 459 with > 5,000 rounds through it, and have never had a FTE/FTF/FTRTB issue...

I love my 5906, as soon as I find a 6906 with a round trigger guard I am buying it, a 4013, and 4506 are on the list too.

BTW, A question for the Owners:

Do the triggers feel as silky and delicious as they look ?

I really didn't have too many complaints about the triggers on mine. They probably aren't the smoothest in the world, and sometimes if the trigger play spring gets out of wack you get an annoying click in the takeup on single action, but for the most part they weren't too bad.
