I have been entertaining the idea of buying a 45 GAP model for over a year now, but have been putting it off. If I do buy one it will be around November or so, hopefully when the 4th gen models are out. I carry a G23. I'm not saying the GAP would replace the 23 for carry, simply because I love that pistol so much, but it might be nice to have as an option. I know that I could get away with carrying a full size 37 (I'm 6 foot 180 lbs, carry IWB), but have the most confidence in the 38 size for concealment. Since I know I can CC both, is there a major performance drop off from the 38 going down from the 37? I would plan on using 230 grain Ranger T if I could find it, and I've seen chrono numbers for it from a 38 in the 870 fps range. Would I be best off buying a 37 and hiding the 1/2 inch of extra grip for the better ballistics, or are the ballistics from the 38 nearly identical, or so close to the 37 that the difference is negligible? Also, will the 38 fit into existing holsters made for the 23? I use a Nick Mathews #1. I'm sure Nick could answer that, but was curious if anyone has tried it themselves. THANKS!
