hi
1st post, I was looking at a 35 on Academy's website there were two different gen4 MOS listed with about a $130 difference in price. one is pictured with a optical sight the other without not being able to look at the pistols first hand(none in the store) I am assuming the cheaper model is not really a MOS gun; https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/glock-g35-gen4-mos-40-s-w-pistol-115110630#repChildCatid=5004170 and https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/glock-g35-gen4-mos-40-s-w-pistol#repChildCatid=4912134. has anyone purchased a 35 from Academy?

1rst off welcome to GT.
yes the 1rst is non MOS & if your just a normal Joe that likes to shoot every now & then the basic Gen4 35 will suite your needs.
i personally have 1 & yes i do like it alot.
Yep...1rst pic is a misprint. It's clearly not a MOS and is at the non MOS price, albeit a little lower than some other places. In my area, the non MOS runs around $659 for the Gen 4 and the MOS is $829. Thankfully, my dealer will usually match anyone's prices long as it's at least 10% over his cost, which I think is fair. $597 for that Gen 4 non MOS is pretty close to cost (more than 10%, but less than 'getting raped'), so it's a good deal.

I've never seen anybody try to use "1rst" anyplace before. I've just been lucky, I guess...until now. :)

Welcome to Glock Talk.

One item that is often overlooked when comparing the MOS version to a non MOS, is the location of the rear sight dovetail. Not an issue with the factory plastic rear sight, but after market sights or Glock Night Sights may "protrude past" the rear edge of the slide.
