LAPD, SIS unit.
Nice article by MAS on the G30S in the new GUNS magazine.
I'd jump on a G30SF or G30S if I didn't have a Dan Wesson CCO on order,
esp. after seeing his review.
That's what I heard at a match from someone who'd know, if anyone does.
BTW...the Gen4/Gen3 frame rails should be no different...and a Gen3 36/30 complete upper should fit a Gen4 30 frame.
Because they already had a dual spring RSA, I'm guessing Gen4 30/30S uppers will be no different from a Gen3 30/30S uppers.
I spoke with our area Glock rep when he visited me at the PD last week. He told me that the only real change that had to be made in the G30 frame when mating it to the G36 upper was the slide stop angle. Further, the G30s does use the G36 barrel, and will not accept a G30 barrel. LAPD SIS was the original police unit that requested this hybrid, although a bunch of us have been asking Glock for something similar for years. I would like to see something similar done with the G21 next.
Yea us as well. I have said for years now that if they had a Glock 36 in a Glock 19 size, Glock 17 size and Glock 34 size they would own the market period.
It will fit... I've tried it!!!
spcwes: I've felt the same way for a long time. There are several who have argued the point as an unnecessary modification, but I think that the reduction in size and mass through the loss of extra bulk is always a good thing. Of course, I think as LEOs, we have a little different perspective on this than most.
Agreed and I carried a glock 21 on duty for a couple years and it is on my list in the top 3 as one of the best 45 ACP handguns ever but the Glock 36 having a slide not even as wide as the 9mm/40SW frames means not only can it be done but means that it has been done already.
My wife shoots the Glock 21 as well as any handgun she has ever picked up but her hands are to small to shoot it well one handed especially if it was wet or bloody. But she LOVES the weapon though and is a big fan of the 45ACP as it is an easy caliber to shoot well.
She is excited to handle the new Glock 30s as am I.
Good luck with your new 30S. Mine just came in, so I'll be getting out to the range soon. I have a set of Ameriglo sights, with the orange outline front, on their way,
I decided to roll with the XS Big Dots for mine when I get it ordered. Very much looking forward to it. Also does anyone know if they are shipping Gen 4 Glock 30S models yet? Would love to see a beavertail backstrap on this model.
I know this is late but...[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynHenL72bPY"]Get yourself a Glock and lose that nickel plated sissy pistol - YouTube[/ame]
What about putting a gen4 glock 36 slide on a gen4 glock 30 (or 29?). Supposedly the gen3 glock 36 slide on the gen 3 glock 30 might work same way with both being gen 4?
And if glock 30 and glock 29 are the same frame, maybe the 36 slide can go on the 29 aok (with 45 mags of course)? Anyone ever try this yet?
