Just curious if any of you have actual deer hunting experience with Uncle Sams M-1 30 carbine.Kind of considering dolling one up for an 8 year old girls 1st deer rifle. Thinking about shortening a stock a little, installing a sims recoil pad, adding a scope mount and scope, maybe putting on one of those clamp on recoil checks for the end of the barrel, and possibly a bipod mount of some sort. Also curious if any of you have used CORBON's 30 carbine load. Thanks, Johnbob

I didn't think Corbon had their .30 Carbine load out yet (maybe that's just the DPX .30 Carbine though)

Anyhow, my son started deer hunting with me when he was 8. I cut down the stock on a Wincester 94 lever action in .44 magnum. Started him out with some 210 gr. Wincester Silvertips, fairly low recoil. He never shot a deer with it and is now using a 30-30. This year his little brother will start with the .44 Mag.
