When looking for a G19 to buy I see different generations, what is the main difference between the two? will accept the same mags.? are the barrel & overlength the same? does any have both and which do you prefer?

Gen III has the accessory rails and finger grooves. The rest is more or less the same. The dimensions are the same, and I believe the mags are too (at least interchangeable).

The G2 has two pins. Later G3 has three pins, while early G3 has two. less peening going on with three.
