Have you guys seen the new Scherer Glock 10mm magazine? This was listed on a common gun auction site. WOW, that's a lot of firepower!
Wow, a lot of weight too. What would one do with that thing? Scherer has a bad reputation as far as mags go.
Well, with one in the chamber, you'd shoot 30 times without reloading! ;f Yeah, it would be a novelty for sure. However, if it were actually reliable it might have some merit for home defense. The extra weight would sure lighten the recoil. However, I would think that much weight would be hard on the mag catch... I've never been much of a fan of Scherer, but I might get one of these at a later time just to play with. I'd go broke just filling it up once.
There is a Glock 10mm carbine, one just went on Ebay last week. Where to buy new, I don't know. The mag catch is only $3.00. The Scherer big sticks work just great. Replace the springs with Wolff +10's. Check inside the tube for "hanging chads", file if necessary. That's a lot of firepower...
I think a person would have to have a front grip in order to shoot a 10mm on full auto. A person could use these with the carbine conversion units (CCU) that are available for the Glock platform.
I've heard from FBI agents that used them that the full auto MP-10 isn't really that bad in "Rock&Roll" mode. The ergonomics of the H&K platform make it more controllable than you might think. uncle albert
You're right about the FBI's limited use of the 10mm MP5-10. However, that particular gun allows you to hold the foregrip whereas there is no foregrip on a Glock pistol. I think the basic mechanics and overall weight and length of the HK would also benefit it in full-auto mode. I'd be lying to say I wouldn't love to have a full-auto 10mm, but in a G-18 type platform it would most definately be a handful!
Smitty is selling it at $50 so I think when these hit Brownell's the price will be under $40 when they get them.
With the accessory rails on these newer pistols you could probably find a vertical grip to attach for those full auto shootouts;f
We have some swat team members who deer hunt with us and one of them has shot the 10mm mp5 several times and said it was a pleasure to shoot. He could even shoot it with one hand. He's a big guy so it might not be recommended for all.
Aren't vertical forward grips on a pistol STILL illegal even after the AWB expired? There's still a big difference between a 5+ pound MP5 and a 1.5 pound Glock when you're talking recoil absorbsion. Why do you think the Barrett .50 is 30 pounds? ;f
Well, you are probably right on the front grip for pistols, however, if you have a full auto machine pistol, it is already a NFA weapon, so you could probably have a pistol grip for the front.
I know you'd have to have a separate NFA stamp for the gun and a suppressor for instance, but if the gun was a SBR (or pistol) AND full-auto, then you're probably right that one stamp would be all that would be all that's required. However, it's a removeable part so I'm not sure... All I know, is that it's too expensive for me to own, and it would definately be too expensive for me to shoot if I did own.
If the gun is full auto, the problems of being a SBR or a "funny pistol" have dissapeared, as the tax stamp is for a machine gun, which supersedes the other classifications. Once in a while the federal regs DO make sense, just not enough times.... uncle albert
