I'm starting to take a more serious look at the G39 especially because I reload and regularly do 45 acp's and could use the same fmj bullets.

My question, is the 39 exactly the same size as the 26? Would like to be able to use the same holsters.
Glock. com says they are but I've read reports that say otherwise.

Just wanted to get it straight for once and for all.

    Thanks

The slide on the 39 is thicker and heavier. Worst case scenario is you would need to buy another holster. I have never tried a 39 in my 26 holsters so I don't know how much difference it makes.

The G39 will not fit in a G26 Kydex holster, but will fit in most G26 leather holsters. I carry mine in a Galco Horsehide G26 pocket holster, but use Blade-Tech G39 specific holsters for IWB, OWB and Paddle carry.

The .45GAP uses small pistol primers.:wavey:

I have no problems with using the G39 in my G26 leather holsters.

The Glock 39 has a notably wider slide. I actually recently bought a Glock 26 slide to convert my G39 to G26. Its a lot more confortable to carry with the thinner G26 slide. But the G39 works fine my IWB holster. The OWB like the Serpa and Fobus are a different story... Sometimes the GAP is a tight fit, and sometimes they don't fit at all.

Also the GAP is very easy to reload, but there isn't any 230gr data(at least not that I've seen), so you're stuck loading 185 and 200gr.

I hope they eventually thin the slide on the g38 like they did with the g30s and g36.

IF* they do, it will likely be the same size as the G19. I remember reading on here a while ago that Glock did try a narrower slide before the GAP was released but it wasn't cycling reliably.

    Last two questions:
How does the 39 handle under rapid fire using self defense rounds?
    and
If the slide on the 39 is wider than the 26 why not just get a 30?

    Thanks

A G30 grip is much fatter than a G39 and the G30 is just too large for pocket carry. I sold my G30 when I got a G38 and sold my G26 when I got a G39. The 0.2 inch wider slide does not bother me at all.

The 30 is about the same size as the 19/23 etc...
39 is both smaller and thinner. The slide is as wide as the widest part of the frame.
