I am a cop. I carry a Wilson 1911 with a light. I use the same gun in the SWAT kit. I carry a colt commander off duty and I have a spare Springfield TRP.

I really want a 229r E2. I think I want it for off duty carry. Ammo is not an issue as long as it is a .45 or 9. I guess I just want a 9mm. I could just get a Glock on the cheap and call it good but I actually like the trigger on the Sid e2.

This probably is not the place for someone to talk me out of it.

    Man, I don't know.

I've got a 226 e2, the SRT and short reach trigger combo with the improved ergo's can not be beat! So I say pick it up.

I have the P229/e2 and love it . Great grip ergonomics and the throwback 228 slide looks great too. As far as reliability goes , mine has been good to go with 400 rounds so far. With night sights , 3-15 round mags and the short reset trigger and short reach trigger you can't beat it. I also like and will get the P226/e2 in 40sw too. To add, I measured the my E2 and my 239 grip at the girth and came up with the same thing.

    Mine is the P229R, 9mm.

What is the difference between mine and an E2?

Gun shoots fantastic and is very easy to rapid fire while staying on target.

I just looked at the pics again, and the grip looks a lot longer than my P229r

    Thanks for the info!

To the OP, I believe it's just a matter of time until Sig makes both the 226 and 229 E2s' in 9MM. Don't know when, but they will and when they do I'm going to look at a 229 E2 in 9MM.

Thanks, Good to know. The Magazine I read only mention it in .40S&W which doesn't work for me.

I picked up the Sig P229 E2 a few months ago, and i fell in love with it. It's everything a combat pistol should be, very accurate, reliable, awesome SRT trigger, low recoil, good ergo's and even looks great. I liked it so much, that i sold my HK P30.

Can I use any 226 or 229 magazine in the e2?

Won't the 15 round magazines work in the standard P229's? They don't look any different from the older ones.

Yes. I used my 226 mags in the 229 E2. They fit and function perfectly.
