How can I tell if my new P229 has a DAK trigger or not?
squeeze the trigger (while unloaded) and hold it back, rack the slide, slowly let the trigger forward. If it is DAK you will hear a click when the trigger is halfway out.
No decocking lever would be the first clue.
Just what I was thinking.
The beautiful smooth and light pull.
Based just on that fact...could it not also be a DAO?
DAK has the half moon shaped hammer. All the DAO sigs I have worked on have a standard looking hammer. Dont know if the new ones still have the standard looking hammer. I havent seen a new DAO since the DAK came out.
I find that all sigs have great trigger pulls. I have an old P220 and even it has a great trigger pull, it may be long, but its still smooth.
Apart from the hammer, a simple way to tell the difference between a DAO and a DAK is to take an EMPTY gun, pull the trigger till the hgammer drops, then pull the trigger PART of the way back, then release. If the resulting pull is shorter, then you have a DAK.
