I was in a gun shop just to look around. They had 223 ammo $399 a case. Wow, I'm glad I had some stocked up

I thought it was a good deal (considering today's prices), but I'm reminded that there is no standard size to cases on anything anymore. I would have called it 'half a case'. Like sending someone to the package store for a case of beer, and having them come back with an 18 or 12 pack. :)

I’d say less than 1000 is not a case.

I have been in the shop loading .223’s all week. I’m loading some super cheap “factory seconds” 55g projectiles for about 19 cents per round. They shoot fine for plinking inside of 100 yards. I’m going to load as many as I can until I run out of stuff.

If you live near an Academy Sports store, check on ammo in the mornings. My store receives on Tuesdays and Fridays. I had more soft points than FMJ for the AR so I bought 1100 rounds of FMJ and green tip last week, at pre-COVID prices. They have limits on how many boxes you can buy, but sometimes they get in 100-200 round boxes.

Cabela's, Academy, Bass Pro; any big sporting goods store, be there at door-opening on truck day.

I work at a big box pt (PART TIME) for fun, and yeah, within 30minutes of the door opening its all gone, almost always.

We are getting very small shipments - somedays 5 cases of ammo - total. Not 5 per caliber - 5 TOTAL.

The prices on ammo has become insane! Hope when this election and COVID 19 stuff is behind us the prices and availability will get better.

This is the new norm for ammo prices.

So that would be $798 a case.

Unfortunately your right. Expect things to ease up a little in the next year. If Biden wins grab your ankles. He'll make us squeal, Deliverance Style.

Pete might be right....places that sell ammo have now seen that we’ll pay so I doubt it will come back down to “normal”
