Are you talking about an ambi mag release?

I love mine. I shoot right handed, and it's easier and more natural for me to drop mags with my trigger finger. I'm an HK convert. I don't have to adjust my grip like I do with my other glocks. I have no need to constantly or rapidly drop full mags, so I don't worry about breaking parts. I don't mind pushing up on the base plate to drop a full mag when I do need to drop a full mag either. I live in CA, so I had to work extra hard to get this one, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Most of the guys I have talked to that hate the ambi mag release, are LEO's. They all have Department range procedures that require they release the full magazine, some even have to while still holstered.

Love it, works great. Glad I have it, and for faster mag changes works great. No problems at all.

I bought mine withou the ambi. I've cut plenty of them for officers who regret getting the ambi. From my experience it's all ones personal preferance.

I've got 3 Glock 21sf's, two of them have ambi-mag release and pic/rail and serve as my IDPA CDP guns. I have used and abused these two pistols with one seeing well over 12k and the other about half that. They have been through a ton of slide-lock reloads and tactical reloads without a problem thus far. Now for those of you that know the IDPA game, in CDP you never load the mag with more than 9 rounds -so this could be why I've never had the problem others have documented. But I'm happy with em as is and even shot one at Nationals.

The third has the standard mag release and Glock/rail. It serves as the home defense gun and only gets to come out an play for the occassional function test and spring SD ammo cleanout shoot.

For me the mag release has been a non issue, but without a doubt I think the Pic/rail makes the Glock look sweeeeeet -wish all my Glocks had it

I think one of the reasons that the ambi release has problems is that the piece that holds the mag in place can work it'sway out of the recesses in the frame that hold it in place. When I detail strip and clean my 21SF, which is every time I shoot it, I push the pivot "ears into place with a small flat screw driver.
I have well over 8000 rounds through mine and haven't had any kind of problem with it.
I also make it a habit of pushing up on the mag before releasing it, and pushing the button when inserting a mag.

I love my 21sf ambi mag release. Like others have mentioned, being able to release with your trigger finger is a nice feature to have!

There seems to be a major problem with ambi mag releases when using hot loads and .45 Super.

I love mine! I had difficulties at first with dropping a full mag, but fixing it was easy, and I haven't had a problem with it since. Like others mentioned above, being able to drop a mag with your trigger finger is nice, especially because I have short thumbs! lol

Don't worry too much about it. If you haven't had a problem with yours, you're probably one of the lucky ones. If you do start having problems with dropping a full mag, there's a few ways to fix it, and it isn't really that hard (Jim mentioned one way above). So relax, don't worry, and enjoy shooting the hell out of your G21!
